#CanYouHearUsNow
It wasn’t too long ago when articles have circulated about Khizr Khan’s speech at the DNC, a father of a fallen Purple Heart Soldier. “You sacrificed nothing and no one,” were the words that shook the convention. Of course Trump had to comment, by stating that Khizr Khan’s wife wasn’t saying anything because “she probably wasn’t allowed to.” Of course Muslim women fought back with the hashtag #CanYouHearNow, aiming to deliberately show the world that a mothers choice to say silent, does not make her submissive. It was to prove that Muslim women have a strong voice that Donald Trump would otherwise not choose to hear. Yet again, Donald Trump fought back tweeting that he felt “insulted” by the words of Khan, a Gold Star family member. It does nothing more but to show the extremity to which narcissistic bigots will go to prove that they are “right”, and everyone else’s opinions is invalid regardless. So let me have a fair share of this hashtag.
Dear Donald Trump,
I am unapologetically Muslim, Black, Female, and Canadian. Surprise, I’m your worst nightmare. I am an aspiring therapist, with a passion to serve my community. I am a writer, a volunteer, a student, a leader, a visionary, a daughter, a sister, a friend, and amongst other things I’m really cool to hang out with. Just know that actually you have sacrificed nothing, served no one but yourself, and only care about yourself. I’m slaying it everyday, and your comments and campaign, DON’T PHASE ME. Ya heard. #CanYouHearUsNow Boy bye 👋🏽 @deenoverdunyah
