journey to self love
I'm starting a new series on my blog where I talk about my path to embodying self love and confidence. My journey started when I came across a verse in the Quran that states "Verily, we created man in the best stature (mould)" [Surat Al Tin: 4]. It caught my eye as it made me realize that self love is a divine message from my Creator, who is telling me that He made me in the best mould, so that every crevice and curve of my body is honoured. It taught me to accept the way I look. It taught me that my stretch marks and scars are not flaws, but rather a story of struggle and survival. It taught me that my body is mine, and that no one's comments on my body should be validated. It taught me that even if your shape isn't what's poppin in the media, there's no harm in feelin yourself and owning it. As cheesy as it sounds love yourself for who you are, because there's only one you.
