Scully had very hesitantly confessed, over the phone on Christmas Day, that she had been alerted to Emily’s situation by an anonymous phone caller who sounded just like her dead sister. She needs your help. Go to her.
It’s exactly the same reason, the only reason, why Melissa would now be telling him to turn around.
Muzan Kibutsuji didn't know where he was. One moment, he'd been in the Infinity Castle, then something had struck him in the temple, everything had gone dark and now he was standing in...a meadow?
What made it all stranger was the fact that the sun was shining down upon him. As he took in his surroundings, Muzan became familiar with a hundred sights, sounds, scents and sensations long, long forgotten. The melody of a bubbling stream. The softness of grass beneath his feet. The aroma of flowers.
His eyes suddenly lit up. Those weren't just any flowers. Before him lay a carpet of blue spider lilies. Muzan's face contorted with joy. At long last, his years of searching had paid off.
As though dancing in slow motion, Muzan ran towards those sapphire-hued plants, his clawed fingers reaching out, almost touching the soft azure petals...
Suddenly, Muzan's eyes opened and he saw Enmu smiling down at him. "Lord Muzan, you're alive!" The Lower Moon grinned.
Muzan sat bolt upright, grabbing Enmu by the front of his coat. "What the hell is going on!?" He demanded in a furious snarl. "A shuriken was thrown at your head, my Lord," Enmu explained. "It rendered you unconscious, but I revived you!"
Muzan's face went grey with revulsion. "And how exactly did you do that?"
"I gave you the kiss of life, of course!"
Muzan's brows lowered, his pupils narrowing into feline slits. He was the very picture of fury.
Kokushibo, Douma and Akaza watched as Enmu ran back and forth, screaming bloody murder as Muzan attempted to shred him into sashimi. "I didn't give you that dream, Lord Muzan! I swear it!" Enmu shrieked. "I don't believe you!" Yelled Muzan. "When I get my hands on you, I'm going to tear your legs off and kick your ass with your own feet!"
"Should one of us intervene, I wonder?" Kokushibo thought aloud.
"Are you kidding?" Akaza smirked. "This is the best thing I've seen all night!"
been a long, long time since i've done one of these but since my beautiful erstwhile beta @featherxquill tagged me, how can i refuse?
rules: recommend five of your favorite fics you've written, and then tag at least five other people!
i'm tagging ye who want to participate without mentioning names, please feel free to assume i pointed at you and said "YOU"
I think i'm kind of going backwards chronologically on this one, so in no particular order of preference:
stone in your water - the witcher (netflix) - tissaia/yennefer - 105k words - rating: e
“Melitele. You’ve brought us to Nenneke,” Tissaia says, voice marred and muffled, far away.
“Oh,” Yennefer breathes, grip slackening on Tissaia’s wrist. “That old hag.”
Or, in protecting Tissaia, Yennefer sacrifices her own eyesight. While Nenneke searches for a cure, Tissaia is treated for dimeritium poisoning, and it quickly becomes clear that the road to recovery will be a long one for both of them.
Is it finished? No. Will it ever be? If it's the last thing i do, yes. I occasionally pick at the next chapter desperately hoping it will become easier to write. Two more chapters and the recovery fic that could will be finished. Apollo granted me the gift of prophecy for this preemptive "fix-it" and i just have such big feelings about recovery stories. A big old novel about overcoming past traumas and healing together.
2. you'll be an architect, so pull up your sleeves - the witcher (netflix) - tissaia/yennefer - 16k words - rating: m
It's been several weeks since the coup on Thanedd—since the political backbone of the North shattered in little more than the time it takes to blink.
Another preemptive fic that actually was a fix-it. A story about navigating the aftermath of trauma and, somewhere hidden deep in the desert, a well. With a bonus playlist to accompany it.
3. heard pain tell love, she said 'where would i be without you?' - the worst witch 2017 - hecate/pippa - 36k words - rating: m
When the ice melts, when the magic comes pouring back into the walls, breathing tremulous life into the castle, reversing the effects of the magical death of the grounds and its occupants, it meets the emptiness inside of her and she collapses.
(Magic is an organic thing; it lives and breathes and grows at its own rate. It cannot be forced along, can only be nurtured or confined and repressed, and although it grows, although it regenerates, it cannot be manifested suddenly out of the aether. It’s fundamental magical theory, really.)
Or, the magic at Cackle's takes some time to recover, and Hecate has some personal demons to battle in the meantime. Follows Hecate across the ~6 months after the events of The Big Freeze as she navigates her recovery of both her magic and her way of life - with a great deal of help from her support structure.
This is the original recovery fic. The little recovery fic that could. It was my first "long" fic, and it was completed - aside from some editing - before the first chapter was ever posted. It knew what it was doing and had some beautiful help from supportive friends (shoutout to @janetfraiser for all the "what ifs" and allowing me to torment them with angst for months on end).
This story imagines a Hecate with chronic pain that magic alone cannot fix. Loving support structures, learning to open up to the help of others, and maybe just maybe allowing your soul to touch and be touched by another.
4. 'cause you're a sky full of stars (such a heavenly view) - tww2017 - hecate/pippa - 1.6k words - rating: t
Hecate tilts her head against the window frame, gazes out at the sky, and for a moment they are fifteen years old, lying ear to ear in cool grass, bickering over stars they can barely see with naked eyes.
Forty years later, Hecate stands at Pippa's window with the light of a million million stars ensnared in her hair and begins to name them, one by one.
Fluff with a little bit of bittersweetness. Finding your person again after years of estrangement. I will always come back to this story with love.
5. Breathe me - holby city - bernie/serena - 3.4k words - rating: m
Bernie does come by later. But first, she texts.
An episode tag for Four Letter Word, and probably a preemptive fix-it because lord knows canon will continue to run Serena through the grinder. Bernie cares so much she's gonna have an aneurysm.
Every now and then i just think about this fic and sigh. Apparently i just really like angst in this list.
Honorable mention to my Yennaia Hades and Persephone AU because what a fun adventure this 67k crackfest was (and still is). Features Tissaia as the emotionally constipated god of the dead who cares SO much, Yennefer as the mortal who simply cannot stay away from the Underworld no matter how hard its goddess tries to push her away, Rita as the very Alex Tydings-coded goddess of love, Cerberus as a Very Good Boi who happens to frequently look like a three-headed borzoi, and a not-insubstantial amount of gender fuckery.

✮ profiles 01 ✮ profiles 02 ✮ masterlist
You adjust your tote bag as you open the door to the cafe, making sure not to crumble the small bag of cookies inside. You’re not here as often anymore since Eujioo opened his coffee shop, but you visit when you can, fondly remembering the hours you spent studying for exams and research papers in freshman year.
You’re slightly doubtful that you actually texted the real Jay: maybe some poor soul wanted a quick scheme and some fresh cookies. If nothing else, at least you can hightail it out if things got sketchy and pass it off as a silly, nostalgic tale to your friends in a few years.
You’re not prepared enough to be wrong.
As you set your bag down in the most out-of-the way booth, the door opens again. Jay himself walks in, wearing a simple navy button-up shirt and black khakis. He approaches you with a friendly, professional smile. You quickly realize that his pictures don’t do him half enough justice—his brown eyes have an endearing crinkle to them, and his skin is a mesmerizing amber hard to replicate under studio lights.
“Hello! You must be Y/N,” he says, offering a handshake.
“Hi, it’s good to meet you,” you say. “I didn’t know you were allowed to walk around in public.”
“I’m a chef, not an actor,” he chuckles. He briefly glances around where you two are standing. “This cafe is nice. I didn’t know it was in the area.”
“You did say comfortable, in your texts,” you say. “If you’re looking for good cafes, you should visit my friend Eujioo’s. He’s a big fan of your work—he’s the one that told me about you when I asked, actually.”
“I see,” he smiles. “Well, I should be thanking him. Was he the one that prompted you to start your business?”
Your polite smile drops on its own. “Um, about that—”
“Wait,” he says. “Before we discuss any business, I'd like to pay for your drink. Consider it my treat, for making it over here.”
You begin protesting, but he’s already walking to the counter, and you shrug as you follow. To her credit, the barista remains only a little dazed as he wrestles out your usual order and asks her to type in his own. He’s definitely more popular than you thought. Have you been living in a secluded, internet-less existence for the past few years?
You walk across the cafe with your orders and sit across from each other. Jongseong makes small talk about the recent weather, the cookies you awkwardly present to him, and Gaeul, Park Sunghoon’s (!!!) dog. If anything, the relatively normal conversation puts you more on edge. You still can’t believe this moment is real, and the casual way he mentions celebrities and expensive brands you actually recognize makes your head spin even more.
“...But I know you aren’t here to listen to me,” he finishes. You straighten and hope he doesn’t notice. “Tell me about Sugar Talking. What’s the inspiration behind everything? What are your goals so far? Any particular branding preferences? I’ll admit, I haven’t done something like this yet, so it’ll be a good opportunity to learn.”
Out of his barrage of questions, one sticks out to you. “You…haven’t done this before? Why?”
“Time, mostly,” he admits, rubbing the back of his neck with a grimace. “But I haven’t been interested in prioritizing something like this before.”
“Why me then?” you ask. You’re a bit shocked to realize you’re actually referring to it as a business. Maybe his enthusiasm for the whole idea is rubbing off on you. “Not that I’m not flattered, but there are plenty of other bakeries more established.” That have an actual desire to do this.
“Yes, it’s a bit of surprise, even to me,” he chuckles. “To be honest, something about your video drew me in. Potential, possibly? All I knew was that it felt like I could see someone at the start of their journey, and that made me excited. In a way of ‘I want to watch her grow, and I know others will too.’”
You’re speechless for a moment. You’ve always loved baking, but never saw yourself doing more than frosting funfetti cupcakes for sleepovers with friends, or trying not to cry into chocolate chip cookie dough after Wonbin dumped you. You also assumed most of the people interacting with your account did so because they followed Jay, but by the way he talked about it, perhaps that wasn’t the case.
You stare hard at your remaining coffee order, avoiding his gaze. “To be honest, I never meant to start Sugar Talking. I made the account to check up on someone that used to be in my life—embarrassing, I know. But I got several orders before you found the video, and I’ve baked for so long that at this point it feels like a waste not to share it with others.”
You look up, half-bracing yourself for betrayal or sheer ice. Instead, there’s nothing but curiosity in his expression.
“I won’t pry into the details, but thank you for telling me,” he says. “I’m happy to encourage you however I can. Plus, now I can tell Sunghoon that he doesn’t have to worry about me sending a thousand yen to a stranger on the internet,” he adds with a smirk.
“If anything, you’d be the one scamming me,” you say, and before you can think too much of it, your lips curl into a smile.
Jay looks delighted. “Glad we’re on the same page,” he says.
As you bounce ideas for the business off of each other, Jay taking notes on all your quiet wishes, you can see why he has so many fan pages and edits and comments online. His tone remains even and professional, but sheer excitement for what he does bleeds through every syllable. He’s endlessly accommodating, stopping to explain a cooking term or talk about how impactful a business choice might be. He peppers quick jokes and steady encouragement in between sketching out mock-ups of signs and and illustrating statistics mid-air with his hands.
And you realize that in his element, Jay is dangerously endearing.
