Hey, MTX! What do you think about the fact that Akai seems to think Asaka could be near Sera?

I know it's to make Conan think Mary could be Asaka but if Mary is not Asaka, Akai should know that.

As Akai was asking about Asaka, he was under the impression that the dying message was "ASACA RUM", in other words that Asaka was Rum,... so he was essentially describing his impression of what kind of person Rum might be, rather than his mother (File 954).

As for why he suspected that Masumi could get targeted/investigated, I think his worries stemmed from the fact that Vermouth recently attacked her while disguised as Akai Shuuichi in File 822, which essentially confirms that Vermouth, a dangerous highranked BO member, is aware of his sister's identity and whereabouts.

I therefore think Akai has natural reasons to be worried that the BO might exploit that link to his family, and since he doesn't know what kind of activity Rum is up to (as per Kir's vague warning message), he could have likely been making sure Rum wasn't making a move on Masumi (due to Akai Tsutomu's past involvement in the Kohji case investigation), so he can be ready to keep her safe once more like in File 823.

Asaca-Mary thoughts

I bought volume 90 two weeks ago and I’m reading it with calm. I noticed a particular (probably you all had already noticed it from the beginning but I’m stupid so I see things after a lot of time! XD) that had made me think about the fact that there’s a possibility that Mary is Asaca. Conan had thought, at first, that Mary could be Rum; then when he saw how she had knocked out the culprit in file 953, he thought that she could be someone from the secret service (probably MI6 since Mary is English and had lived in England for many years). 

What made me real think Mary could be Asaca are the words Subaru says, talking to Sonoko and Ran, in file 954:

Let’s analyse them:

- “Someone is always careful”: Mary is very careful to not show/expose herself too much, that’s why she hides in hotel rooms and let Masumi to be the one to investigate outside. Don’t forget that she is so suspicious even with Conan that she immediately said they had to move to another hotel after Conan has found out about her. Mary also shown to be careful when she quarreled with Shuichi because he wanted to join FBI and investigate about his father’s death.  - “and also skilled at bringing down their opponents”: Just look at the images over there from file 953, also Conan is impressed of how skilled she is at knocking out her opponents. It’s clear that Mary is really skilled at fight. 

So, Subaru’s words fit with Mary’s character, especially if we consider that he first asked if this person was around Masumi. If Asaca is another person, why should he/she be around Masumi, who wasn’t even born when Haneda has been murdered (and so he/she isn’t supposed to know about her existence)? Could it be that Mary wasn’t an MI6 but instead a bodyguard that suddenly has been involved in the murder of the person she was protecting and accused of being the culprit (so Rum)? That could explain why the Akai family is so attached to Koji Haneda (Mary was his bodyguard and probably he even knew Tsutomu) and why Tsutomu has started to investigate about that case at the point of clashing with the BO (his wife was suspected of being a murderer and a big deal in a criminal organization).  I was 90% sure that Mary was an ex-MI6, but after noticing this I’m starting to think it could be a valuable option too.
