honestly insane to me that hinata and noya get the piss taken out of them for their dramatic ass statements, and yet suga gets to drop this absolutely unscathed

No one wanted this but here is a list of my favorite Haikyuu ships and some thoughts I have on them:

1) OBVIOUSLY Kagehina. I am obsessed with them (especially Hinata) and I think they cannot be denied. Personally I like a version of them where they get together after high school with their high school dynamic being more of a platonic because of obliviousness thing. Something about Hinata coming back from Brazil all beefy and confident and fulfilling his promise to a healthier happier Kageyama really gets me.

2) Iwaoi....

To be entirely honest I specifically avoid these guys. I KNOW they are happy, I KNOW they are in contact, I KNOW it is technically possible, but whenever I think too hard about their time-skip lives I just feel sad. The angst for these two really haunts me I basically can't touch them. I also have very strong opinions about Iwaizumi and his "anger" that are not really the popular fannon interpretation of him. Which is fine...

(I actually was into Iwaoi before I liked Kagehina actually! Way back when I was like fourteen fifteen ish)

3) Asanoya. Argue with the wall! These two not only are introduced on a divorce arch, but they are each other's other halves according to Furudate himself! I think these two are adorable. Noya helps Asahi out of his shell and gives him the push he needs to blossom, and Asahi brings out a vulnerable emotional side to Noya we don't often see beneath the bravado. Chef's kiss.

(Here is where it gets muddy as the next few are not necessarily ranked in order)

4) Ushiten. I shouldn't have to elaborate. It's literally freaky social outcast x freaky social outcast and through the magic of friendship they carve out positive reputations for themselves. PARIS WEDDING!!!

5) Kurodai. I loooooove this ship. Someone said that Kuroo has daddy issues and would find Daichi hot because of them and I've never looked back. Kuroo brings out that competitive silly edge from Daichi that we only see in flashbacks and with the other third years it's hilarious.

6) Toraken!!!! Duuuuuuude they have a whole fucking episode why aren't they more popular???? I understand the Kuroken hype but cmonnnn!!! The opposites attract??? The learning to respect each other??? The balancing each other's weaknesses??? The matching hair dye??? The rare emotional reactions from Kenma??? THE HAIR DYE??????? Gimme fifty of em stat!

7) Kanoyachi. I don't know who came up with this but I need to give them a kiss. I love love love anxious partner/anxious partner learning to be confident together! (Shout out to my mom who ships Yamayachi it's pretty baller too) I also love the idea of their height difference and how awkward they would be with hugging and/or kissing. Let them hold sweaty hands and bond over their energetic friends being too much sometimes.

8) This one might be controversial but.... Asahi x Suga. I KNOW THAT DAISUGA IS RIGHT THERE I KNOW! I just.... I didn't see it so much before... but I started reading the manga so that I can see stuff that didn't get animated in the early seasons and the Asanoya breakup arch involves Suga more in my opinion? Also, @camphaikyuufanfic is my favorite guilty pleasure fic and it has old/unrequited/never fully happened Asahi x suga and it makes my soul burn as an awkward guy that had a lot of homoerotic friendships with extroverts growing up. (This fic is such a fun mix of masterfully weaved storylines and angst with a heaping plate of romance tropes go check it out)

9) Hoshihina! I know this started as a bit of a gotcha against the people making cringy love triangles with Kagehina and the subsequent shipping discourse, but I actually think we're onto something here boys. Let me set the scene. Hoshiumi works his ass off becoming a perfect little giant, confident and skilled despite the occasional comments on his height. He isn't that great with people (don't even try to argue this I saw that boy getting interviewed) but hey he has a big enough personality to get away with it. Then comes along this plucky little spitfire with less than half the experience and no shot at being the same kind of player, but he still tries! Hoshiumi is immediately obsessed and has a respect for/understanding of Hinata that most players don't. So, alongside Hinata's best friend/partner who has way more reason to, Hoshiumi waits! For Hinata! And believes in him despite how little they know each other yet! And I mean for Hinata it's a hot guy in the grade above that is literally a carbon copy of his childhood idol. Please.

Also I think they would be the death of Kageyama and I like that. They'd chew on that man until he snapped. (Mayhaps throuple?)

Anyway those are just my top favorite ones but I like plenty others and I definitely go through phases. (Like I said I much preferred Iwaoi to Kagehina back in the day) If anyone sees this and has thoughts you should totally give your thoughts on these pairings or try to sell me your favorites that aren't here >:}
