[EVENT] A Carriage for Hope
The X-Men were taught to survive under the harshest conditions. Years of battling Danger Room holograms and light constructs had helped Warren manage when he had to battle any and every class of alien, demon, and other worldly threat. Yet, somehow a sickness managed to bring the whole world crashing down. Xavier never prepared his X-men for a world ending event brought on by something microscopic. And a rich man like Warren wasn't exactly breed for a post-apocalyptic nightmare that the world had become. At least at the Avenger's Tower he could be useful. To be sure, being able to fly was vital to scavenging and pulling survivors out of sticky situations. However, it was his healing mutant blood that was of interest to the scientists, convinced that they could save the world by conjuring a cure for the infection.
"I've loaded up the Humvee with your research notes, hard-drives, and the samples," a young man in a lab coat said as Warren and Wanda approached. The vehicle looked as though it had seen better days. The sides were dinged up and the familiar brown color of dried blood was spattered about the hood. It would fit at least five people, Warren supposed, maybe seven if he stuck to flying above and not crowding everyone with his enormous wings.
"Dr. Rao, this is Wanda Maximoff," Warren said. "Wanda, meet our precious cargo."
"The Scarlet Witch," Dr. Kavita Rao said, offering her hand. The famed geneticist was once developed a serum, Hope, that could repress the X gene. Though there were other giants involved in the project, like Dr. Connors, Warren was convinced it was Rao that would find the cure the world so desperately needed.
"We should head out soon if we're going to make good time," a SHIELD agent said.
