Billy Utley and His Detroit Speed "Equipped" Nova Wins the Run to the Shore 2012
Mooresville, NC – Driving his DSE "Equipped" 1972 Nova, Billy Utley took home his first ASCS event winning the 2012 Run to the Shore by capturing first place in the autocross, the speed stop squared and by nailing a top five finish on the road course.
This was the 2nd annual Run to the Shore and it didn't disappoint. From the new speed stop squared to the autocross and road course, there was plenty of action all weekend long. Top that off with Bangshift.com's live feed of all the action and this was one event you didn't want to miss.
The event took place April 6th - 8th at the New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, NJ. After a Friday night dinner, tech inspections started Saturday morning bright and early at 7:00 AM followed by a driver's meeting. The track went hot at 8:30 and the action fired up right away. There were over 50 cars competing in the event and everybody was giving their all trying to snatch victory in at least one of the three events while holding out hope for the overall title.
Unfortunately for us, we were unable to make it to the event as the Test Cars were in transit from the California Swing. We were thrilled with all of the Detroit Speed "Equipped" rides like Billy Utley's, Tom Farrington's, Scott Carey's, Michael Manning's, Kenny Edward's, Cheryl Herrick's and many others who carried the DSE flag on their cars for us in our absence. We would also like to mention Sam Farrington and Kenny Edwards, Sam shared driving duties with his father on the 700 mile trip from Indiana while Kenny, just old enough to drive, brought out his self-built 1968 Camaro for some track time. Way to go guys! We would also like to congratulate Kenny's father, Ken, for his great finish in his 1966 Mustang.
Billy Utley, driving his DSE "Equipped" 1972 Nova, started off fast by capturing the autocross as well as the speed stop squared challenge. His domination of the competition didn't stop there as he drove hard and hammered home a top five finish on the road course.
