“Okay, so SHE didn’t have much free time.”  

“Bet you’ll be needing a date to the winter formal.”  

“How much are you betting, Rosalind? Because I could use the money for a limo rental.”  

She reached for his collar, pulling him close and pressing her lips to his.  “My dress is purple.  I’ll send you a picture so you can get a tie to match.”

Bobbi gasped into Jemma’s mouth, surprised by the reaction she’d elicited with a simple brush of Jemma’s fingers.  It hadn’t been that long since she’d had a roll in the hay, had it?  

While trying to do the seemingly difficult math, Jemma’s fingers had tucked into her panties, stripping them down and over her slim hips and absolutely taking Bobbi’s breath away.  Jemma smirked and lay back on the sofa, spreading her arms wide as Bobbi crawled over towards her, peppering kisses up one impossibly long leg.  

She gave up trying to do the math.  Math wasn’t fun.  Doing this with Jemma? Infinitely more fun.

Trish popped her gum, winking at him when he walked by.  Steve paused, stopping to lean on the bannister beside her. She was a looker, that Trish Walker.  She was also a smart mouth and bossy to a fault.  AKA, his kind of woman.    

“What’s a nice dame like you doing at a USO show like this?” he asked.  “Don’t they have you covering better news yet?”  

She shrugged and reached in her pocket for her pen.  “Not yet...care to come do a ten minute spot with me on the air later?”  

“Ms. Walker, I’d be honored to be a guest on your show.”  

“Thanks, Captain.  You’re a swell guy.”  

“So they tell me…” he muttered in response.

“Philip, get back here…” Lincoln called into the hallway after the naked toddler who’d just escaped from towel prison.  “Mommy!  Incoming!”  

Daisy grinned and knelt down.  “Gotcha!”  She scooped him up in her arms.  Philip giggled uncontrollably as she brought him back to his father.  “You’re all wet!  You gotta let your dad finish drying you off!”

Daisy kept stealing glances at him.  At Linc.  At her husband.  

She liked thinking the word.  Liked saying it too, except she couldn’t really.  Only when she was with him.  

Only when she was with Lincoln Campbell: her husband, could she talk about how Lincoln Campbell was her husband.

She grinned to herself and took a sip of her coffee.  And she was his wife.

“So...uh...how does this work?” Bobbi asked, gesturing towards the chemicals Jemma had out on their station.  

“You didn’t hear?  We dip these popsicle sticks into these jars, and then we burn them over the flame.  Based on the color, we write down which chemicals are in each jar…” Jemma gestured towards their book.  “Dr. Banner explained it pretty well, in my opinion…”  

Bobbi popped her gum.  “Ah.  Cool.  I guess.  You...uh...you free later on, Goggles?”  

Jemma pressed her lips together in a line.  “I have a French test tomorrow.  I’m going to go home and study…”  

“French, huh?” The blonde leaned forward, her tongue poking out between her teeth.  “Want some help studying for that?”

Phil sighed heavily and glanced across the table at Rosalind.  “Are you okay with this?”  

She took a deep breath.  “Does it matter?  Looks like it’s happening…”  

“Doesn’t have to.  I can disappear.”  

She sniffed out a sound that might have been laughter in another situation.  “Disappear where?”  

He shrugged. “I dunno.  Somewhere there isn’t a marriage law, maybe?”

“Take me with you.”  

He chuckled. “Doesn’t that defeat the purpose?”
