Just In Need Of A Friend (aservanofrohan)
It was the thud of hooves that signalled the arrival of more people into Edoras, and soon the sight of three horses appeared over the crest of the hill. On the one in the lead rode the king, Theoden, and to his right rode his son and heir Prince Theodred. On the same horse as the prince was a small girl with long blonde hair, only around seven years old. The finaly horse held a boy of around eleven, also with long blonde hair and a grim look on his face that seemed out of place and too old for one so young.
The king had notified everyone that the children of his recently deceased sister Theodwyn, the young Eomer and Eowyn, would be coming to live with him after the tragic death of their parents, and here he was, as promised. As two of the three drew to a halt, the third carrying Eomer did not. He seemed to spit out a few words before continuing on on what was clearly his horse, directing it to the stables himself with a scowl. Even at his age, he seemed to be a fair master of the horse.
Once in the stables, he dismounted, leading the horse into the stall and untacking it with a gentleness unseen by any in Edoras as of yet. It seemed to calm him however, repeatedly brushing the horse's hair, making sure all the tack was shining and clean and even pulling an apple out of his small bag to feed to the tall beast.
