When I was in high school, my religion class had this ethics assignment about the end of the world. Each group was given a person, and we had to argue about why they should be allowed on the ship that would take the final survivors to repopulate another planet. The groups had people like women who had their tubes tied, and women who had gone through menopause. My group had a gay man.
Most of the group’s argument was that it would be homophobic to keep the guy out, and argued that it wouldn’t be fair.
My argument was that sexual attraction wasn’t a requirement for the sex act, that the man wasn’t infertile. Even if this setting didn’t have artificial insemination, it wasn’t impossible for him to impregnate women to help rebuild the population. Plenty of people have sex with people they aren’t attracted to.
Anyway, long story short, I probably should have realised I was Ace a lot sooner than I did.
