Star.... Wait.. wait, wait...
Is Loki missing from your 300 followers celebration list? 👀💚
Cause I'd love to challenge you on a Loki-Magic one if you're up to it?
Magic becomes art when it has nothing to hide
Loki has an interesting relationship with magic - his magic in particular. Asgard is a war-faring nation. Brute force and strength are heralded more than magic, long considered a feminine aspect. Loki's always felt like he was different in Asgard. Go figure that it was the Cask of Ancient Winters which proved to him why.
This is one of the boards from my 300 Follower Celebration! Want to join in? Send me an ask following these guidelines!
What do you think of Loki and Wanda's magic?
Loki uses Asgardian Magic and Wanda uses Chaos Magic. I don't know much about the first...but about Chaos magic...it's extremely intense and aggressive.
Magic in the MSK!!
How it Works. Kinda...
Like I mentioned Yesterday! We are talkin' about Magic!!
More specifically the serperate Magic systems!
So the two major systems I'll be addressing are Asgardian Magic and the Mystic Arts
Asgardian Magic in the MSK is actually better described as the Magic of the Vanir. As that is where Frigga is technically from... No matter what you call it. What Loki weilds can be most closely related to a Well. Said well siphons power from the world tree. With time and practice, one can deepen the well at their disposal. And those who have a closer bond to the World Tree will have an easier time accessing their well. For some this bond is so weak the effort it would take to even tap the Well isn't worth it, thus why it isn't as wide spread. One's bond to the tree can change, but it takes time and work. Loki was brought up in Magic by his mother. In present time, he has a very deep well of magic at his disposal.
Thor's magic is drawn from Asgard itself. Drawing not only from his own well but that of his people on the whole. The drawback being he is tied to a specific element of the World. In his case, Lightning and Storms. Such a vast amount of power required a funnel at first, Mjolnir. Now he can channel it on his own. Which leaves him practicaly crackling with energy. He's like a perpetual Static electricity Shock. Or a very aggressively rubbed sheep..
The Mystic Arts draws from energy, and is closer to a river. The river connects to every being. Though some sections are deeper and richer in minerals and energy, to take the analogy a little further. In this way. Magic may not belong to any one specific person. That said. Every user manipultes their section of the river in their own way, giving their spells a very slight signature. This isn't detectable unless said magic is in direct contact to someone who has a sense of the Arts for a prolonged period of time. This is also why group spells work better with some groups than others. The slight variance can either harmonize or clash. As each user must navigate both their own spell weaving and that of their partner(s). In further note. You will see in Book three, that you in fact, can beat the energy to your will. The downside being it takes copius amounts of will and energy, and can effectively crutch the user to only rudimentary spell-work. So it is better to turn the existing energy to one's advantage.
How do they cross?
Both magic systems interweave in the way they pass through the user. And should a user of the Mystic Arts be knowledgable and have connection to the World tree. That energy would be sufficient to channel for spells of the Mystic Arts. Though without proper training, the sofisticated channeling for Vanir spells will elude some Mystic Arts users. The Magic of the Vanir is more ritual, whereas The Arts is based on avaliable energy and litany of channeling.
Stephen Strange is close to unrivaled in his practical litany of the Mystic Arts. His Partner more adept at Abstract spells. Both dabble in the Magic of the Vanir, though The Sorcerer Supreme's Partner does have an edge when it comes to a connection to the World Tree.
Loki has a vast reserve of energy, if he chose to learn, The Mystic Arts would pose no issue to him, though his own Magical practice is vast enough that such is not required for his use. Thor on the other hand would most likely struggle with the Mystic Arts, merely due to litany and his more gritty connection to the World Tree
Cate's added Bond to the World Tree through the Flame imbued within her being means she has access to her own well of magic, though untrained and shallow now. With time, her skill will easily become formidable.
A small tidbit here, The Scarlett Witch. Her magic is sourced within herself. Her very own resevoir of Energy tailored to her being.

hey have u ever thought about thor teaching tony, shuri, peter - any of those smarty pants- about former asgardian technology? do you think he would ask one of them to help the new queen to help restore some of the lost "magic" ?
No, I have never thought about it, but it's an amazing idea! Imagine the journey of recovery for Thor and a grieving Peter after canon endgame.
Or the fascination seeing tech so refined it's real magic evokes Tony. He scoffs when Thor goes to him with the idea but he's too curious to pass up on the opportunity.
Or Shuri who can't resist adding some of the wakandan wisdom and science knowledge to the project resulting in something absolutely unique.
Can we have more of the asgardian obiwan au with quigon learning how to use his frost giant abilities? Obiwan love the little ice sculptures his master and Loki make so the two have sculpting competitions.
The long haired man tiredly sagged to the ground, his breath erratically and face flushed from the strenuous task. Obi-Wan felt just a little bad for him. he could very well remember the training he had gone through with the god of mischief. Eventually, he had grown resistent and better, but Qui-Gon was just at the beginning of his training and he was doing quite miserably. Not that the red haired boy blamed him. All of his relatively long life, Qui-Gon had learned to use the Force and now he had to learn how to use his birth giving abilities, those he had forgotten or never known about.
“Your Master still has a long way to go.”
Obi-Wan was proud to say that he did not flinch as the raven haired male’s voice suddenly appeared right behind him. Over the time he spent here, he had gotten used to most of Loki’s habits. “He is quite old for a human, you know.”
“But not for a Frost Giant.” Loki would know of course, he was one after all, but he also was a god of Asgard.
“His Frost Giant side had been suppressed for probably all his life, you cannot expect him to be perfect,” chided Obi-Wan.
“I am not,” he put an arm on the smaller male, who allowed his eyes to roam over various statues and sculptures Loki and Qui-Gon had created. He was truly impressed. He loved how the ice glittered in the sun, it was some kind of magic in itself.
“I can hear you… you know,” panted the bearded male, who was still sitting on the frozen ground. Obi-Wan had to hide a grin behind a fake cough, but Loki just openly chuckled.
“How about a competition?” called the Padawan all of a sudden. Two pairs of eyes settled on him. “Whoever builds the best ice sculpture, shall win my ever lasting respect and love.”
He had meant it as a mere joke, after all he already respected and loved both men already, but Qui-Gon and Loki exchanged daring looks. And all of a sudden, the former Jedi Master had jumped to his feet, ready to go again. Loki too, was ready for some action and so the competition began. Meanwhile was Obi-Wan asking himself, what in the name of the Force and the Allfather, he had gotten himself into.
Speaking of the Allfather, Odin was watching the three males with mixed feelings. He saw how much his son loved the redhead and it both troubled and pleased him very much. On one side, Obi-Wan might be able to reign in his darker side, but on the other hand… what would happen, if something were to happen to the child? Loki might go berserk. Odin shook his head and turned to walk back inside. He just had to make sure that nothing would ever happen to Obi-Wan Kenobi…
