Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes ... including you. ~Anne Lamott

Cherry blossoms turned several trees on the block into pink puffs of delicate petals. It was a beautiful reminder of the plans Furia had made with Oleg, though they wouldn’t be sharing that evening together. She crossed her arms over her thin robe and weighed her options, which at first seemed limited. Go alone. Not go at all.
She crossed the room and unzipped the garment bag hanging on the wardrobe. The dress was definitely too much, but it was gorgeous and hints of purple played so well with the silvery sparkle. It almost felt like playing dress up when she tried it on the first time. And she really wanted to wear it again. The silk accent tickled against her fingertips as she recalled her reflection from that day.
It was silly. Just something fun and frivolous. It was really just for her anyway--the symphony and formal not-a-date date. Just a moment to get away. She could go alone. It would be fine.
“But not as much fun,” she breathed opening her eyes again. More than half of the fun of the night was going to be talking to Oleg about it all, having someone else there that enjoyed it as well. And knew more about all of it than her.
She could go on her own, but she didn’t want to. She wanted to go with someone else. Be with another person. A friend. Someone who might just let her be silly or serious, whichever tonight turned out to be.
Furia sighed and leaned against the wall. Her hazel eyes traveled the room, landing on her phone in the middle of her bed. She straightened and headed straight for it; tapping on her contact list she scrolled past CID, slowed at Colin’s name, but finally stopped on Devin’s.
He’d probably have a tux on hand. And if he didn’t, she was sure Josh would. Maybe one of them would be up for joining her. She pressed the little phone icon next to Devin’s name, and crossed her legs under her as she waited for it to ring.
