With Obi-Wan missing, Anakin has to partner with Tusken Raider Jedi Master A’Sharad Hett instead. The two Tatooine natives make a fascinating pair, due to John Ostrander’s impassioned dialogue and Jan Duursema’s beautiful compositions (especially this panel). They just fit together so well -- the shapes, the colors, the scenery.

Published right in between “Attack of the Clones” and “Revenge of the Sith,” this Dark Horse comic deals directly with the emotional aftermath of Anakin’s homeplanet slaughter. It’s a topic that SW media rarely addresses in a satisfying way, and this comic is, unfortunately, no exception. Though it gets closer than most, the comic ends with a disappointing twist.

I definitely recommend checking it out! I read it in “Epic Collection: The Clone Wars: Volume 2,” which provides the necessary context (and a lot of other great comics)!
