From the moment Asher took her first breath in this world, she was destined to be in the spotlight. The first child and only daughter to a French businessman and retired actress, the brunette always found herself drawn closer to her mother more than anybody else. Her mother’s theatrical and dramatic antics never failed to make her laugh as a child, and it drew constantly attention in any audience, whether it was her loved ones and merely strangers. Although she adopted her father’s introverted tendencies; she was shy and very soft spoken compared to her mother, but yet she knew that a part of her always wanted the room to grow quiet the way her mother always entered a room one day. It was at the age of three when her parents took her to watch a performance of the Nutcracker during a cold winter’s night when she fell in love with the art of ballet. The elegance of the ballerinas and the gracefulness in their movements captured her attention and suddenly, she aspired to be on the same stage one day, and a new dream was set in motion for the young child. It took a lot of persuading and begging before her parents agreed to take her to her first ballet lesson, but they soon discovered that she truly had a talent in ballet. It was just convenient that her father had a job opportunity in the States, because before she knew it, her family packed up everything, returned to her mother’s hometown in New York City, and Asher was dancing in the School of American Ballet.
Every parent thought of their child as special, but Asher was something beyond that. Their family was always more than special. By the time she reached the age of thirteen, with two younger siblings in her family, little did they know that they all had Silver blood coursing through their bodies. It was a surprise that none of the Bouchard children discovered their abilities, but it was all down to her father’s precautions that kept the secret hidden for so long. The truth was neither of her father or mother was a Silver, but her grandmother was indeed a Silver but she was taken away from her father by the government when he was just a child. From that moment, he knew that should his children were Silvers too, he would do whatever to keep this secret hidden. From being homeschooled to masking their pale skins, the children were oblivious to their true selfs until Asher had a disagreement with her siblings, leading to her storming out to her backyard in anger when she discovered her ability. It was her anger that ignited something inside of her, and before she knew it, the pot of roses in their garden all became dead, with no way to revive them. Shocked by her revelation, she kept this discovery to herself until when she turned eighteen, when she used her powers by accident again.
It was inevitable that with any professions, people could get competitive, wanting to be the star of the show - the top of the ladder. Which was exactly what happened when students in Asher’s ballet class tried to sabotage her outfits to even injuring her that ultimately brought out the worse in her ability and she almost completely syphoned the life out of the culprit out of revenge. She was lucky that the girl didn’t end up dead, but the incident was bad enough to scar her for life. Asher’s secret finally came out to her family but her father managed to pay the girl some hush money to keep the incident quiet, and her father had to send Asher to her aunt in Kingsholm out of protection from the government about her being a Silver. It was a culture shock to her at first, coming from a huge city to a small town. But at least her aunt was aware of her situation and this also gave her a fresh start to discover her ability too. Except that she didn’t want to. Little did she know that she could actually use her power for good, she was only aware of how dangerous her ability was, and she swore to herself to never use it again or start a family because she didn’t want anyone to inherit the Silver blood. Instead she joined the local ballet company and continued to live her life as normal as she could, travelling around Europe to perform, until she found herself falling in love and pregnant not long after she turned twenty-five. The possibility of passing the bloodline along was enough to cause her to make a rash decision and abort the child. Instead of letting the father of her child aware of the news, she kept her lips shut, just like she did all these years about her ability and that she was a Silver, except now she was living with the guilt of terminating a life that was once inside her too, and it was affecting her more than she liked to admit everyday.
Asher Bouchard is portrayed by Gal Gadot.
