Make me choose: Stony or Winteriron

Ohhhhhhh shit. Shit. You just had to bring out the big guns, oh my GOD. How am I suppOSED TO PICK BETWEEN THESE TWO

Okay. Okay, so Stony was actually my very first m/m ship and I’ve been a hardcore shipper from the start. I couldn’t picture either Steve or Tony with anybody else, it was each other or nothing. I was absolutely smitten, I for sure felt it was the OTP of all my OTPs. The dynamic between them is just… it’s incredible. It’s ice and fire brought together and those who know me well, know this is my favorite type of relationship.

Then Civil War happened. Honestly, I thought it would push me into shipping them even harder, cause of all the angst and all the shit they were gonna have to deal with to get back together would make a fantastic read (if anyone knows a post Civil War stony fic like this hit me up). But it… didn’t. You know why?

Because of Bucky fucking Barnes. I couldn’t care less about him at first, then at that phase of rewatching Marvel movies and seeing certain characters differently, I became very fond of Bucky. I fucking love Bucky Barnes. So my shipper brain immediately went ‘who the fuck do we ship him with?’

Tony Stark. ‘Why not Steve?’ - first, my absolute Marvel fav is Tony Stark and I tend to veer towards ships that include him. Second, I never saw Steve and Bucky as more than very good friends. I understand why they’re shipped, but I don’t see it that way. They’re more like brothers to me.

Third, Bucky and Tony have paralleled pasts. They both know how it’s like to be used as a weapon, they both know torture and mind control. They both have blood in their hands that wasn’t necessarily their fault. And I just… boom, you know?🎶Shot through the heart 🎶. That combined with the undeniable chemistry they would have (both similar yet very different) made me immediately fall in love with the idea of them together.

(Plus I’m very mad at Steve right now, so it would be kind of a fuck you to him.)

So. Right now, Winteriron sits on the throne of my Marvel ships. But I can just feel Stony pulling a Daenerys Targaryen in the background. And I can’t tell who’ll win out.

(When it becomes too much I just resort to Stuckony lmao)
