What do you think of Ashiida (Mina/Tenya)?
Ayy sounds interesting!
The problem is, I never saw them interact (lol who am I kidding, huwumi never interacted either 🤣).
I think that I can see a pattern here- both are super eccentric in their own ways and it's hilarious how Iida's proclaimed the 2nd "best" while Ashido is proclaimed the 2nd "worst" student by academic achievements in 1a hero course.
However, both are talented in heroism. And Iida can teach her some responsibility while Mina can teach him to relax.
At first I haven't thought ab them bc I already ship them with other characters but now that you're mentioning it, it's OK. I'm OK with them. 👍
Ashiida (Mina and Tenya).
-who cries when someone dies in a movie: Iida. Mainly because he’s just gotten so invested that he is always at the end of his seat.
-who wears the ugly holiday garb: Both. Mina likes them ironically to get into the holiday season. But Iida wears them and sees nothing wrong. Its a sweater. It works in the cold weather.
-who pays for the meals: Iida, because he always offers and Mina is NOT gonna say no.
-who slams the oven door and who plays the trombone: Oven door is Mina, but Iida is actually trained in playing trombone.
-who brings home stray animals: Mina. If she saw a stray dog, she would bring it home to Iida and make sure to give it the biggest bath. Iida would be the one who would call a shelter.
-who leaves the bathroom door open: Mina. She’s just not used to living with someone else yet. Iida however always makes sure its closed.
-who tells the ‘dad jokes’: IIDA! The man is a living dad joke. He tells them while he’s passing by in super speed.
-who wants kids more: Both of them. Iida is ready to continue the family line while Mina is someone who wants a big family. At the moment I see them wanting at least two kids as Iida is a guy who knows the value of siblings.
-who travels more: Both of them. They very much wanna go out and see the world. Even have a massive photo album. Mina also insisted the add commentary so the wrote out what they remember and what their reaction was on a piece of paper next to the pictures they took and its in blue ink for Iida and pink ink for Mina.
-who spends more cash: I’d say Iida, but only because he has more money to spend. Mina goes broke almost every other week.
-who buys the things in infomercials: Mina. She knows she doesn’t need it, but she wants it. Iida is pretty good with it as he’s not really concerned what people do with their money.
-who draws in the dust on their cars: Mina. She gets bored easily. But Iida always sees this as her secretly telling him to dust off his car. Which he promptly does.
-who starts the snowball fights: Mina. Iida however is always slow on the uptake. So Mina devices a plan to get him to go into his “villain” persona. This makes him practically unbeatable. Except against Uraraka.
-who throws away the directions to things: Mina. She always has an “It’ll be fine.” Attitude towards it. Iida has a mini stroke when he can’t find the instructions.
-who puts up holiday decor: Mina. She wants the house to look amazing (and on fire considering the mount of lights). Iida’s super speed grants him the ability to cover every floor of the house in a quick manner.
-who is more likely to forget to bathe: Iida surprisingly. He can just end up working himself into forgetting. Mina on the other hand loves bathing. She likes feeling squeaky clean.
-who gets more obsessed about things: Iida. Comes from being a super particular person. He even makes sure to be thorough with Mina’s stuff. Not even a pebble out of place.
-who sings in the shower more often: Mina. She however is into showering together and she and Iida get to do a duet of “Lay all your love on me” by ABBA.
Send Me More
I needed to kick my own ass into doing a warm up drabble to try and get my brain gears in motion today, so here’s a lil Ashiida thing for @cartoons4ever77 ~
—–
Iida wasn’t sure what he was the most surprised by: that only one person had turned up for his study session, or that the one person was Mina Ashido.
He continued to glance at the clock on their shared kitchen wall, as if it would somehow reveal the locations of his classmates. Or summon them to him if he kept it up for long enough. It did neither of these things.
Mina had spread her belongings across so much of the table he wasn’t sure that there would be room for anyone else to study with them anyway; a sparkly pink pencil case was tipped onto its side, spilling its contents of varying sizes of half chewed pencils and animal shaped erasers, that seemed to smile up at him from the table where they’d fallen. She’d pushed papers around her that displayed scribbled notes that he could barely decipher, and doodles of menacing looking horned creatures in the margins, though the creepy effect of them was displaced somewhat by the pink sparkly pen she’d used to draw them.
Iida realised he was staring and shook his head slightly as he took one last look at the clock.
“I don’t think anyone else is coming,” Mina said, leaning back in her chair.
Iida made a concerned humming sound. “I just don’t understand. I told everyone five pm sharp. Do they not care about their grades?”
“Nah, it’s not that. There’s that nasty virus going around at the moment, right? Some of ‘em are stuck in bed with that. And there’s that cooking club thing going on at the school that a bunch of ‘em have gone to, and they opened up the gym a little longer tonight so there’s extra training that I think Midoriya, Todoroki and Bakugou are at. Maybe a few of the others too.”
Iida blinked and adjusted his glasses..
Mina giggled at his expression. “Can’t get anything past me,” she declared.
“Well, I’ll be sure to check everyone is okay later, in case they can’t make it to class tomorrow,” Iida added as he finally took his seat at the other end of the table.
Mina shrugged and chewed on a pencil as she continued to lean back in her chair. The noise was loud in the silence. Teeth on wood. Chewing. Chewing.
“What are you working on?” Iida asked, his voice clipped.
“Oh, y’know that essay on rescue ethics?”
“You mean… the one due tomorrow?”
“That’s the one!”
He nearly choked with the force of how much he wanted to say all at once. ‘Irresponsible’ kept on coming to the tip of his tongue before it got replaced by ‘terrible work ethic’ and ‘finished mine a week ago’ and ‘need to start earlier’.
Mina obviously found his reaction comical because she laughed so hard she doubled over and slammed her hands repeatedly against the desk.
“There’s nothing funny about your grades, Mina,” he finally choked out, “you need to- to start these things early- and-”
“Relax, Iida, I’ve literally only got a page left to write on it.” She wiped away imaginary tears. “You’re so much fun to tease.”
He didn’t really have a reply to that. Her grin was wide and playful and her pink hair was tousled with the force of her laughter.
Why did his cheeks feel so warm?
When they’d eventually settled down into writing - the scratching of their pencils on paper the only sound in the room - Iida began to relax into something he found familiar and challenging and he almost forgot Mina was even there.
Until he noticed the humming. It started off so quiet, he almost didn’t catch it for a while, but it got louder and more energetic and it squirmed its way into his thoughts until it overwhelmed the flow of his notes and he realised he’d been sitting and staring at his paper without actually writing anything for a few minutes. Even worse was that he’d been tapping his foot alongside the tune and once he’d stopped Mina was aware of the absence of the sound.
“Were you enjoying that?” she asked, surprised.
“N-No. It was an involuntary reaction to a beat,” Iida lied.
Mina gasped and stood up from her chair so suddenly it screeched as it flew backwards and threatened to topple over, as she immediately raced around the table to him. She grabbed his hands with so much enthusiasm that he had no choice except to be dragged to his feet. She was stronger than she looked.
“Let’s dance!”
“What?”
“C’mon!”
She resumed her humming, more loudly, and held his hands in hers as she swayed them and shuffled her feet on the kitchen floor. He was surprised that her hands were so soft; he’d always assumed they’d be rough from her acid quirk. He looked down into her dark eyes and he was sure her pink skin was even pinker on her cheeks.
“W-We should be working,” he tried, but it was weak and he knew it. His feet were already moving with hers.
Mina only grinned.
13, Ashiida.
13. “Kiss me.”
Mina and Iida are going over some homework, and during a short break he surprises her with a request.
Iida: Ashido could you kiss me?
Mina spiting out her drink: E-excuse me?
Iida: I asked if you could kiss me.
Mina thrown off by his boldness: What brought this on?
Iida: I was just thinking about how you usually ask me for one when ever you feel like it. While I we were going over things I felt like I wanted to kiss you; so I deiced to follow your lead.
Mina looks at him dumbfounded for a moment before leaping over the table, and pulling Iida into a kiss. Knocking him over; causing them both to fall to the floor.
Mina: You dummy! I only ask because it’s the only way to get you to do it! If you want to kiss me just do it!
Iida: A-and I meant a kiss on the cheek!
Mina: Dummy! *she kisses him on the lips again*
~At a later date~
Mina is sitting with the rest of the 1-A girls chatting when Iida walks into the dorms. He notices them, and Mina gives him an exaggerated wave. He makes a beeline for her, and kisses her in front of everyone. They get a few gasps, and Tooru cheers.
Mina holding on to his shoulders: Wha...Iida what are you doing?
Iida confused: You told me to kiss you when ever I wanted?
Mina breathless: Yeah...but not in front of people...
Iida: I don’t get all these rules!
5, for Ashiida.
Tenya had been growing closer to Mina for some time. He had served as class president, then friend and tutor. She was certainly rambunctious and care free.
Everyone in 1-A had become closer over time, but the unlikely friendship between Mina and Tenya was still not worthy. It was partly due to this that the unlikely pair had been assigned as partners for a class assignment.
As the two walked around campus, Mina was spinning around in a pale yellow shirt and short denim shorts with galaxy themed chuck Taylor's.
Tenya was jogging briskly and enjoying the day, as well as Mina's company. Of course, the horned girl could not help but joke around and flirt with everyone she saw. Unfortunately, this took her partner out of his happy mood.
"If you could please focus, we should work on our project." Tenya chastised.
Mina just brushed it off and smiled. "Take it easy, Class Pres. Just having a little fun. What's the matter? Jeeeealous~" she leaned in close and stuck her tongue out with a wink.
"I...please refrain from teasing." Tenya deflected, doubling down on the seriousness
"Jeez. Ok, party pooper. You seemed pretty happy before. Mina pouted, then scampered off ahead. Her friend's shift in tone did not go unnoticed but she was sure it was for stuffy reasons. The guy didn't strike her as overly emotional. She didn't know about the Stain thing "Let's go, Iida-kun. We're going to rock this!"
Looking ahead as the pink girl took the lead, Tenya felt his face heating up. He watched her as she ran and shook his head. Looking at her in this manner was most uncouth. He would have to think about his feelings later. For now, there was a project to do.
He tried shaking it off as he ran ahead but he knew in his heart that she was right.
