I was talking to a classmate of mine and he, a former Navy sailor, told me about this one time when he was deployed on a ship some years ago and an earthquake hit. Now, mind you, on these ships, their rooms are kinda like bunk beds built into the walls. The mattresses can be lifted up to access your belongings in the space below. And in the event the ship does violently roll, the beds are outfitted with these 4ft strips of cloth to stop you form falling out of your bed. That is... if you have them up.
During this particular event, some of the guys of my classmate’s unit did not have them up. Needless to say, some of them took a dive out of their beds and onto the deck. One sailor was pitched off and actually landed in the bottom bunk of the rack across the room. Neither of the sailors gave a slightest fuck and continued sleeping whilst spooning each other.
Imagine your OTP is on a ship where A is on the top bunk on one side of the room and B is on the bottom bunk of the other. The ship violently tips/rolls to one side for one reason or another and A ends up in B’s bunk.
(My classmate, by the way, slept through the entire thing. He had his security cloth up and was just dead while this was happening. XD)
