Tips for Procrastination

1.Watch missed shows Use hulu to miss shows that homework has caused you to missed. It has the most popular shows available. 2.Search through YouTube Find yourself going from video to video watching the latest Jenna Marbles or Super Bowl commercials. 3.Snapchat You snapchat one person and next thing you know you find yourself snapchatting everyone on your list of friends. Hours will go by, I promise. 4.Gift shopping Valentine's Day is coming up. Your best friends, a lover or a family member might need something special. This could take hours out of your day. 5.Sleeping It's finals week for some. Sleeping is definitely a good way to procrastinate from what you should really be doing.

Five Questions with Nick Doarn

Photo Credit: Joanne Doarn 1. Where do you see yourself after you graduate? After graduating, I see myself either attending graduate school or entering the workforce. If attending grad school, I would want to get my masters in City and Regional Planning. If entering the workforce, I would want to be working for a government agency that deals with environmental issues and problems facing cities. 2. Dream job? My dream job would be working for some kind of environmental firm or Government agency that dealt specifically with the development of cities and the re-development of cities. I want to help find ways to make cities "greener," and find alternative ways to use space and design that would more resemble nature and not be as harmful to the surrounding areas. 3. What do you miss most about living away from home? I miss being away from my family the most. Also, not having my own personal space is difficult to deal with. Having three other roommates isn't the best when it comes to cleaning and keeping the distractions at a minimum. Also, at home having a car to get to where I need is nice. 4. What is your favorite thing about being a college freshmen? Being a college freshman is awesome. I have had the opportunity to meet many different people from many different backgrounds, from all over the country. I love being able to relate with people on certain things that you would never get to in high school. Also, being a freshman, you are always allowed to go out and experience whatever you want, and learn whatever you want. It's the first step in becoming an educated adult, and the way you decide to use your freshman year will have a huge impact on the person you can become. 5. What are you 3 goals in life you WILL succeed? I plan on graduating from Ohio State with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environment and Natural Resources. I also plan on traveling to different countries to see how the use sustainability in cities and in government to gain a worldly view of what I can do to solve the crisis that will effect many americans. And lastly, I plan on always trying to influence people to take chances and challenge themselves to be better and attain their goals, especially education wise.

Feelings on Obama's second inauguration.

If you were to ask me back in 2008 anything about politics I would have shrugged my shoulders and simply stated I registered for the first time this year as a Democrat. Since then I have turned 22, almost completed college in which I have taken a few politics classes and seen Obama through his first four years. Here we are today, in 2013, re electing Obama. Now if you ask me why I re-elected him into another 4 years I will definitely have more to say, but the question is which is a bigger achievement for Obama: His election in 2008 or his re-election in 2012? Take a second and answer that yourself? Obamaachieved a lot his first election in 2008. He got elected right after the economic and military issues of the George Bush era. A lot of people will say he did little to nothing at all during the next four years to pull us out. I on the other hand believe he did because we were able to pull our troops out of Iraq.

Photo credit: Associated Press But, after a long 4 years that proved to be difficult, Obama pushed through his campaign and was successfully re-elected. I am going to take the side and say I believe his biggest achievement was his first election in 2008 because of how inspirational it was with him being the first African American President our nation has seen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TR-sn2vzmFQ His election in 2008 will forever be an important moment in our nation's history. No matter how others felt once he was elected it was still a moment our nation as a whole felt proud. I as an 18-year-old then was more than excited to be apart of his election. Today as a 22-year-old helping re-elect him was still just as important. His inauguration is not something that deserves less attention then his first election in 2008 because it is just as important. He has by-passed four tough years with our nation and was able to motivate the public into letting him lead us for another 4 years. How do you as a public feel Obama will do these next 4 years? The Huffington Post states Obama was the 17th President to win re-election and his second-term goals are ambitious for a nation's who is split when it comes to political views. Even though I believe his first inauguration was the one I will remember the most and how it has impacted me. Some people were more impacted by the second inauguration, but other's hated it as well.

Obama was sworn in on Sunday during a simple ceremony at the White House. He promises to focus on trying to restore the still-shaky economy and combat terrorists overseas while also keep the tradition with an oath to "preserve, protect and defend" based on the Constitution.

My tips for procrastination

Do you ever just not want to do your homework, or even happen to find yourself extremely procrastinating. If you are looking for ways to procrastinate because you just dont feel like doing your homework here are a few tips: 1. Visit Social Networking Sites Check your facebook profile, update a status, tweet to a friend or even just pin on pinterst for a little. Social networking can definitely keep you busy for at least an hour or so. 2. Eat Make yourself some food. Whether it be a dinner like chicken and pasta if you are extra hungry or a lite snack like popcorn. 3. Work-out If you are a work out junkie or just someone who occasionally likes to work out then going for a run or lifting weights would be a great way to procrastinate for a little. Sometimes you get so distracted with reaching your goal of 5 miles that day that you just forget about your homework at times. 4. Catching up with friends Haven't seen your friends in a while. Well talking to your friends is a great way to procrastinate. Sometimes your friends can talk for hours and next thing you know you have no work done for the day. 5. Online Shopping You see someone with a really cool pair of jeans on and you just want to find them no matter how long it takes you. Then because you are spending so much time searching for those jeans you see more shopping deals and next thing you know you are just shopping for a few hours online and again no homework gets done. These are some procrastination tips if you just feel like you really do not want to work on your homework. These tips are definitely good for putting of your work. Update your status and shop a little before you do your work, it will probably make you feel a little better! By: Ashley Doarn

New Year's resolutions

New Year's resolutions are something a lot of people 'try' to take part of. Every year around this time they will wish to be better at something like.. -I will not eat fried foods starting this year. -I will go to the gym 3 days a week. -I will not swear etc. Most people will try their best to stick to these resolutions that they spend days thinking about. While others will break that resolution in a few weeks, but they just can't live without the thing they gave up. Let's take a trip back to last year's resolutions. From my own experience a lot of people I knew gave up sweets and tried to do it all the way till Easter. What about you? How long did your resolution last? My thoughts on New Year's resolutions are simple. Everyone should have a small resolution if anything. It doesn't have to be a huge commitment like giving up alcohol..but it can be 'one drink a week.'

So for my 2012 resolution I told myself I was going to cut back on that, I actually lasted a few months which to me was amazing. For my 2013 resolution I want to make it 'I will work out at least 3 days a week' because I am about to start training for my 2nd Tough Mudder marathon.
