chapter 9: amends
author note:here it is chapter 9! sorry for the wait. i tried my best to capture the moment. i actually wanna draw this scene out. enjoy!

although an agreement was made between the two for the sake of the inconceivable child, that did not mean others were to know about it or know that Eddward was supposedly the father. to protect his image he would throw insults to the twerp here and there across the hall. the shark would never really bite,never laying a hand on the pregnant male but that didn't stop his friends from doing so.
Kevin let out loud "oof" as he was tossed into the lockers. it was a day before Christmas break and the boys wanted to harass their favorite nerd before taking their leave. you would think they would have some heart and reconsider their daily bullying. but no. the worst of this was his suppose baby's father would casually lean against the wall,watching the whole affair, not saying a word or intervening. green emerald eyes would cry out to the lifeless cyan that only looked away in response with a matching face expression.

later that evening angered fist slammed onto the coffee table. "what the hell Edd"! Kevin yelled.
"what"? the bully responded so cool.
"you stood there and said nothing! you could've at least had them back off".
with a bored look the bully answered, "they didn't actually harm you,pumpkin. a few scratches here..." he pointed to various spot on his face and neck that were covered in bruises."...and a few bruises there. not enough to cause any serious damage".
the way he had said it so calmly as if it were...a natural thing-kevin felt heat rise in his throat. "so your just going to let them continue this? is you'r dam reputation that fucking important to you,Edd"? Kevin spat out.
"our agreement, as i recall, is for me to assist you in providing the parental guidance for this child. nothing more." he glared into emerald eyes. "period."
dishearten Kevin stood up. "so...until the day it makes its way into the world what happens to me doesn't concern you at all"?
the raven hair boy grumbled in annoyance,patient running low. "Kevin...do not confuse affections with me just simply taking responsibility".
"we are not a couple, you do realize that". Edd added.
"i know...i just..." Kevin turned away with a defeated sigh. Edd raised a brow in question of Kevin's action.
*i just thought... this whole baby thing would change your ways. maybe figure out why you hate me, why you bully me everyday.* Kevin thought.
after a moment Kevin looks back to his bully with a detached expression and announces, "the deal is off".
the nerds voice was so subtle that the raven hair had to lean in to hear better."excuse me".
the red head shot his head back up, sprinkle of tears flying off his face. "i said the DEAL is FUCKING OFF"! he cried out, voice cracking at the end.
Eddward stared at him, taken off guard by his pumpkin's sudden demand. "tch" was Edd's only response.
"i hope this child doesn't end up anything like you Edd". that sentence caused cyan eye to shoot his direction.
" i will make sure it doesn't end up like you. cold, distant,..." his voice raised and wavered as he went down the list. "...mean, selfish, and...a bully". Kevin wrapped his arms around his large baby bump protectively and continued to spill his thoughts of how he felt about Edd. how he always felt about Edd. " i will make sure this kid has more than enough laughter,smiles, and all the unconditional love i could provide it..ALONE".
Kevin looked around at all the sticky notes on the wall. " and i sure as hell won't neglect it nor would i ever abandon it".
"i wouldn't want be like your parents,Edd". he said with purposely adding bit a humor in it.
that last sentence struck a nerve deep within the bully and before Kevin could blink Eddward was on top of the smaller teen,roughly holding him by the collar of his sweater, eyes furious and full of anger and...sadness?
"MOTHER AND FATHER DID NOT NEGLECT NOR ABANDON ME. DON'T FUCKING ASSUME SHIT"!
Kevin's face remained unruffled, Edd's cold demeanor not phasing him the slightest. "then what are these Edd"? motioning his head to the sticky notes around them. Edd gritted his teeth and growled as he let go of the boy and stood up.
"get out".
"gladly". and with that Kevin slammed the door shut.
...
silence filled the house once again. nothing but the harsh winds of an oncoming storm could be heard. Edd stood up from his spot on the couch and headed to the kitchen, glaring at the sticky notes as he walk through. he reread some of the old ones his parents had previously written.
"sorry we couldn't make it to your swim meet,honey. maybe next time"-love mom
the rest of the notes were nothing more than request of chores. they never really acknowledged the notes he had left for them of his success in school. his victory in swimming tournaments or his improved grades. It no longer mattered. regardless that didn't stop him from continuing to do his best. but...for what reason? who was he trying to impress. he had all the support and praise from the faculty and classmates. strong and smart but who was he truly trying to impress?
a faint humming sound drew Edd out of his thoughts. it was coming from outside. he walked over to the living room window to find Kevin pulling out of his garage on his street bike.
what does that idiot think he's doing? edd thouught.
his eyes followed as Kevin drove off down the street and out of the safety of the cul de sac. with a growl filled with worry the bully quickly grabbed his coat and scarf and a couple of other things before dashing out the door and into his car.

"doesn't that idiot check the forecast"? eddward complained,miffed as he drove through the heavy snow. a snow storm was brewing outside and his pregnant dork decides to take his not so well equipped for snow street bike in this mess.
"dam it,pumpkin".
an hour passed by and the snow was quickly pilling up. soon Edd wouldn't be able to drive through so he had to find Kevin before- he spotted a bike parked on a small bridged that hung over a now frozen stream. Edd squinted his eyes trying to see through the heavy snow that fell on his windshield and noticed a figure standing at the edged.
Kevin?
driving up closer Edd could tell it was indeed his pumpkin standing there. he pulled his car up next to Kevin's bike and hopped out,rushing over to the red head.
"Kevin! do you not realize the road conditions"? Edd was greeted with sad emerald eyes. "your bike is not even equipped with snow tires therefor it can not handle these roads and you shouldn't be riding it in the first place in your condition."
hearing a sniffle Edd ceased his rambling, peaked over to find tears streaming down red, freckled cheeks.
"eh, what are crying for now"?
"why would you care about why i'm crying". kevin exclaimed,voice pitch a bit higher. clearing his throat as he rested his head on folded arms."you were always the source of my pain and suffering. if i was ever crying it would be because of you."
with a jolt Edd felt his heart ache. to be the dark cloud in someones life and have them throw it back at you. it hurt. it hurt more than any punch he has received in a fight. more so from the lack of love from his parents. it was no surprise how Kevin felt but to hear it out loud-
"pumpkin i'm..."
"the doctor said my chances of living past the birth is extremely slim."
Edd froze, eyes wide in shock and on the verge of tears. his blood ran cold and he swore it felt like his heart would beat out of his chest.
"he said...even with the c-section removing the infant can cause internal bleeding and shut down of some of the organs. my body just wasn't built for this." he turned his head away.
"you only have until April,maybe even less." Edd lowered his cyan eyes to the ground.
"yes." he turned back to his bully. "which is why i wanted us to get along. I ...at least wanted to leave this world as friends with you and then i would know this child is in good hands once i'm gone." lowering his tone a bit he says," i wanna know why you hate me".
edd fixed his eyes back onto kevin, taking note of the expression he wore. with a flushed face and apologetic look,breath steaming as he spoke,"pumpkin i...i don''t hate you"
"wait. y-you wanted me to raise it? how long have you known of this?"
" I knew since day one. my fragile body was never in top shape to handle any kind of physical sport it defiantly wouldn't be able to handle birthing a baby". kevin chuckled nervously. "I couldn't ask my parents to raise him for me."
"why not. it is their grandchild"?
"my dad seem disturb by the whole thing and my mom seems to feel the same way. I feel they would just give him up for adoption and...and i don't want that for him. i would at least want him with people i know. I couldn't ask nat or nazz to do it. even though they offered but their just kids them self, i couldn't take away their freedom because i screwed up. so...i was hoping we would get along well enough for you to want to take him in and accept your role as a father but you just seemed so distant."
"you keep saying *he* ".
Kevin chuckled. "oh, we're having a boy".
Eddward couldn't help but smile at that. "a son,eh"? after a moment Edd unwinds the scarf around his neck and wraps it around Kevin's instead,taking the boy by surprise as he pulled him in for a embrace.he never knew his bully could be this gently before."I apologize for the harsh words earlier". Edd motion the red head to the car. "lets get out of this storm and get you warmed up, shall we".
with a small smile Kevin nodded his head and started to tug his bike back through the snow when gloved hands stopped him.
"let me".Edd grabbed the back and placed it in his surprisingly large trunk. knowing the oil on the chains and snow would probably stain is carpet he tossed that feeling aside and hopped into the driver seat.
Edd pulled out a container with what looked like a cup for a cap,unscrewed it and poured the hot contents into the cup and handing it to the person in the passenger seat. Kevin starred at the cup in question. "drink this it'll help bring your temperature back up." Kevin's cheeks where bright red from the cold.
taking a sip he immediately felt the warm quickly spread through his body. with a tired smile he looked to Eddward and said, "thank you double d"
Eddward chuckled at the nickname, turning on the heat to full blast. these feeling he felt with Kevin was something Edd was not use to. but whatever he felt...he grew to like it.
"any time pumpkin, any time".
