Broken Mirrors

“But you won’t know until you try!”

“Steven, there’s a lot that’s happened between us, it isn’t that simple...”

“But she’s on our side now!”

It went back and forth like this for a while, between Steven and all three of the other Crystal Gems. Garnet stayed out of it for the most part, declaring opinion that it was too early to try being ‘friends’, and left it at that. Amethyst was more open to discussion, but still seemed pretty awkward about it. Pearl wasn’t sure what to do. She tried to explain to Steven that just because Lapis refused to fight Jasper, it didn’t mean she was ‘on their side’. And it certainly didn’t make her one of them. However, in the end, (in part to keep it from being amethyst who went) Pearl agreed to visit Lapis Lazuli. The gem current resided in a beachside cave relatively nearby, so it wasn’t that long of a walk before she was at the mouth of the cave.

“…if only there were more Peridots left, well, it’s good for me but I didn’t wish to actually see their shards…. my predictions are correct, Obsidian’s ship will come down tomorrow then soon I will have access to- NO!”

She smacked herself in the visor with the blunt edge of where her palm should be.  She wobbled dangerously despite her own piteous strength.  Who knew an impact to the head could be so awful….and when your gem was there… She teetered along the sand, head stuck in a blaze of memories. Her wobbly course was obvious and her voice doubly so to any who might be nerby

“NO! Concentrate! You have to…  recalibrate the fifth circle on the Galaxy Warp. Extra protection is needed on the conduits if - NO! NO!”

(I think I might be disappointed if Peridot gets redeemed in the next Steven Bomb. I like her as she is: an unapologetically evil yet undeniably awkward villain. 

If she does get redeemed, I would like her to get along with the Crystal Gems for reasons that entirely benefit her.  Or to have her trapped in their basement occasionally sneaking out to passive-aggressively take apart their microwave.

Whatever happens I’d love to have a captured, interogated, defeated or cracked gem Peridot thread before the next Steven Bomb if that’s not too much to ask.)

I’m only trapped on some primitive alien world with no signal, no allies and no transport! I’m doing really really well! In fact I’m going to make a report about how well I’m doing. So there!
