139 for that prompt thing if you're still doing them!
A hand clapped onto Rain’s shoulder, the human rattled and spun with claws drawn and quills flared.
The fae phryexian was quick to put her hand up, a small ward settling between her hand and Rain’s, “Easy. It’s just me.”
“You really need to not do that,” Rain muttered, the strain in her voice doign its best not to alert Threx of her presence. Her claws sheathed, and her quills returned into her back, “Just call me next time.”“I did,” Ashyxa sniped, “I know you’re fascinated, but you and I need to find Zonati.”Rain nodded, her hand taken into Ashyxa’s. Even as the fae dragged her away, Rain couldn’t help but sneak another quick glance into the room. In the snapshot she could catch, Threx had injected the Vulshok with a serum, and had just begun cutting into the chest of the Mirran captive.Even as she returned to walking with her ally obediently, Rain’s eyes diverted to drift, crawling on the floor. The scene had reminded her of a feeling of familiarity, as if it was a practice she knew well, too well perhaps. Since her agreement with Jin, somehow she felt at home, despite her goals. Without Pestyl sitting on her shoulder, those thoughts and theories began to brew.
Ashyxa glanced to the human, already catching just the few thoughts she needed to ask the right question, “I know you’re a Planeswalker, so certainly I don’t doubt that our practices here are practices elsewhere. But with what I cna see...” She paused, being sure her wording would be correct, “But before you came here, have you done this before?”
Rain’s brow pinched, honing in on if the question would help in reminding her of the feeling, the experiences, “Aside from my time on Dominaria and doing research there...I feel like I did. Just don’t know where.”
“Hopefully Zonati can help answer that.” She chimed, “It’s common for beings to have memory loss, given the conditions of the worlds in existence.”
“I know,” Rain admitted, “I’ve ran into a few of those conditions.”
“Should share that,” she smirked, “Might prove useful in your upgrading.”
“Noted~”
Their search for their target ended in a lab a few seats under, one of the larger labs within the sect that Zonati had complete ownership over. The being though cannot help but be any more paranoid than the next, for the security measures always greeted Rain with a bitter entry of skites screeching her arrival. Even if Zonati was allies with her, he was forced to pull out of his work and slap the cretins, “Oh shut up!”
The skites skittered away, leaving the three in the soft hum of his lab’s machines and processors. Zonati waved the two inside, rolling the door shut, “So, before we begin, I must ask you, human, if you remember anything from this palce you call Ravnica?”Rain shook her head, “I don’t.”
“Nothing?” he pressed, “Not even a name? Home plane? Anything?”
“I don’t remember who I used to be.” She confirmed, “All I remember is waking up on Ravnica with a steel hellkite. Just drew up a name for myself and him. Called it a day.”
“And it never occurred to you that perhaps you have a potential for a bloodline? Or investments?” He adjusted his hinged spectacles.
Rain shook her head.
“For a human that’s been pretty useful, you’re absolutely unwise,” he said flatly, “No matter. Just strip down to the bare essentials and lay yourself on the table. Gonna grab the clamp and-”
“That’ll kill her,” Ashyxa reminded.
“Not that clamp!” He barked, “I know how frail this human is. Compared to a Not-U-er, Mirran, she’s paper. Easily flammable and can be shredded with no effort. Planeswalker or not, I’d consider her one of the weakest one’s I’ve seen.” Zonati then spun to Rain, who had him fixed with an insulted gaze. With no qualms, the Phryexian waved to her, “You were one of the weakest. Now you want improvements, so here we are. Now lay yourself down, we’ll figure out who you are.”
For a moment, Rain began to question if Zonati was a proper choice in comparison to Zycrexis, or Textyl. But each time she doubted, she was reminded that Zonati was the right choice. As she settled in, she watched as Pestyl ahd made it inside, and placed herself on the table nearby, letting Zonati hook her up to a machine he rolled over, and aimed around Rain’s head. With a flick of his claw, the machine whirred, and scaled its cage around Rain’s skull.“Now then,” Zonati chimed, “Let’s begin~”
