Loving seeing these two art pieces together. My Healing series is coming to life! 😍 This has always been a struggle of mine, to get an idea out of my head and onto a canvas. Since starting to paint again in March I’ve come to love painting faces and the expressions that come with it. This series isn’t so much focused on the expressions but more surrounding the idea that everyone is vulnerable and feel exposed in one way or another, and yet there are healing elements right in front of us. Baltimore-based Taiwanese filmmaker Chung-Wei Huang discovered a common language shared between cinema and dance when she collaborated with choreographers Muyu Yuan and Long Cheng on the experimental dance videos “Seeing” and “WI ING WI ING,” respectively.

These questions once plagued Virginia-based artist Mishel Valenton when her Filipino roots came into question. She used to resist this image of a perceived backwardness, but now she has found a way to transform and embrace it through her bold paintings.
