what do you think about will? i know some milevens don’t like him, so im just asking since you’re a recent byler convert 🫡

he's not my favourite character but i can still appreciate that he is:

important to the overarching plot and messaging of the entire show

important to el and mike - especially mike :p

suffering from a LOT of trauma (thanks duffers) and this will probably lead to him having a happy ending bc otherwise wtf??

the only mileven shipper in the show

what i used to think about him is that he was used as a punching bag by the creators of the show, and the jokes online about him being given every single sad storyline they possibly could actually turned a little serious in my mind. a lot of milevens had me convinced that his storyline in s5 was going to be him getting over mike, going off on his own with the supernatural stuff, coming out along the way, and then probably dying. now that im saying it that sounds horrendous. but again, it was just because of my lack of trust in the duffers to write a story where the main character is REALLY shown to be queer and have a proper queer storyline and has a happy ending. a lot of my mileven mutuals clowned on will quite a bunch but honestly, it wasnt as bad as some ppl on byler tumblr describe! just as long as you don't join the wrong circles....

i will say, and i will own up to this, im guilty of some slight will hate. not his character, just the duffers choices to have him in certain scenes and have him looking upset at mileven. if yall really wanna know, milevens think hes super super whiny in the rink o mania scene but i totally get it now. (we all thought that will had a puppy crush and it wasnt useful to get that mad over a puppy crush on mike). also i was more just mad at the duffers for associated wills sadness with mileven happening and thought it made no sense. and i said i "hoped for a happy ending where he finds someone who really makes him happy". im an idiot

plus, you guys certainly are not as mean about el as some people on twitter said you were :) and i feel like milevens are far meaner about will than u guys are about el, esp because of homophobia and antisemitism and bc noah plays will and a LOT of milevens claim that its problematic to ship byler bc of him. (also, i do want to say, so many ppl on twitter were misogynistic about el, like- clear overt misogyny and i think some of us need to unpack that. and they were bylers. but my mind is a little shocked at how many ppl love her here its so nice shes the best ahhh)

there were a lot of popular creators that seriously were homophobic though, and it sent me down some dark paths in my mind too :( sad, but anyways-

id say will is one of my favourite male characters, other than mike and steve, i just don't relate to him as much as i relate to mike and nancy haha
