6. How were you first introduced to PotO?

I was first introduced to POTO via the Monster High dolls with Operetta. Back when I was OBSESSED with collecting stuff. But it wasn't until I was 14 that I fell down the POTO hole because I discovered Ramin Karimloo through Anastasia, my musical theatre obsession at the time. And so, I sat down to watch POTO25 and the rest is history...

21. Which PotO collectibles do you own?

A POTO brochure from an airport when the World Tour came to Singapore. My family just came back from visiting Hong Kong so I took the brochure because I was interested and it looked pretty. I don't remember where I placed it now though.

27. Does your real life environment know about your obsession?

Yeah, my mum is aware of it, and I have yet to get her to sit down and watch POTO with me. I plan on either the movie or the concert. Or maybe the infamous Uwe Kroger boot just to troll with her and see her reaction XD. (Oh Uwe, you were awesome in Elisabeth but POTO is SO not your thing)

1) Who is your favorite ALW musical Phantom? My “classic” favorite is Peter Karrie. He was my third Phantom and was a big part of my POTO sexual awakening in my teens 😅 

But my all-time favorite is probably Earl Carpenter. I remember not being impressed when I first heard boots of him, but when I saw him live…WOW. Kneeling at the ring return?? 😭 It’s one of the only times I’ve cried at the end. (Based on actors I’ve seen live, since there are too many to choose from if I include boots 😂)

6) How were you first introduced to PotO? The first version I remember seeing is the Cherik 1990 miniseries, actually! 

18) Who are your favorite artists/writers in the phandom? Oof this is too tough to answer. There’s so much amazing talent out there, past and present! (Plus I’m the worst at choosing favorites in general 😬)

29) What’s your darkest secret related to your PotO obsession? Probably the amount of money I’ve spent on it 💸 I’ve seen the show live 60 times in various places and have a pretty extensive collection of souvenirs/merch/books/etc…not to mention that when I first started trading, everything was on CDs and DVDs by mail. I’d hate to know the grand total 🙈

1. Who is your favorite ALW musical Phantom?

Hands down, Ramin Karimloo. Does that make me basic and predictable? Yes. But I waited for YEARS to hear Music of the Night sung in a way that really tickled me, and he just blows it out of the water.

4. If you were to make a Phantom movie, who would you cast (dead or alive)?

Honestly if the RAH cast got back together to make an actual movie I might just die. But I don’t think Hadley cares to redo roles, so he’s out. I 100% couldn’t go without Ramin Karimloo as the Phantom. Sibylle Glosted is one of my other favorite Christines, but I haven’t heard her sing in English, so until then let’s stay basic and say Sierra Boggess as Christine. I absolutely adore Matt Leisy for Raoul, so he’d be my first choice, followed by closely by Rodney Ingram.

6. How were you first introduced to PotO?

I answered this one in my last ask a phan, so how about #7?


7. If there was a ride at a theme park where a Phantom rowed a boat through misty waters while singing and the passengers were required to sing Christine’s part, would you go on the ride?


As much as I am against keeping a captive audience… I’m ready for my solo.

4. If you were to make a Phantom movie, who would you cast (dead or alive)?

I would love a Leroux-accurate movie, but I have no clue who I would cast. So I’m going to say I want a new ALW musical movie. One that isn’t...so bad. I would want to cast my favorite actors from the musical in it, so... Hugh Panaro as the Phantom, Gina Beck as Christine, and Michael Shawn Lewis as Raoul. What a trio that would be!

5. Who is your favorite character that’s not Erik?

Maybe a basic answer, but Christine. Her strength and compassion are so inspiring to me. Also, she has the best costumes AND the best songs.

6. How were you first introduced to PotO?

Funnily enough, I stumbled upon a high school production of the show in my YouTube recommendations one day. I had never had any interest in watching it before, but I was bored and thought why not? Changed my life.

7. If there was a ride at a theme park where a Phantom rowed a boat through misty waters while singing and the passengers were required to sing Christine’s part, would you go on the ride?

YES YES A HUNDRED TIMES YES. Why doesn’t this exist already?!

8. Do you sound like a banshee when you sing Christine’s part or are you quite competent?

I can sing the “easier” parts like the beginning of Think of Me or Angel of Music. But any of the cadenzas? Or Wishing? Not a chance. Only in my dreams.

2. Which Phantom movie is your favorite?

Well, no doubt you yourself can guess what movie it is) Of course the Phantom of the Opera 1990. It seems to me that there Christine is the closest to the original in appearance, I also admire her sincerity in relations with Cherik) I also like thePhantom of the Opera 2004 but there are already attracting individual details, for example a riot of colors, the energy of color...

6. How were you first introduced to PotO?

Ohhh, it's a long story! It all started with the fact that my friend was carried away by a new story, I did not ask which one. Just at that moment (2013–16) the musical “Phantom of the Opera” was on, everything was full of announcements about the performance. And I thought: “Are they felt crazy with their Phantom?” Sometimes I looked into a group of my friend, as she drew sketches and came across a man... Tall, thin, with yellow eyes. "Some kind of horror..." - I thought... Ahhhhh! And when winter of 2017 came, I decided to watch fanfiction for the Phantom of the Opera... I don’t know why. And I read a heart-breaking story about how Erik tried to take hold of Christine’s love, giving her bouquets of flowers every day.In this he was helped by a flower girl from whom he bought flowers. I was struck by this story and then decided to read the original. So, I can tell about it in details, if you wish)))

23. If you had the chance to ask Gaston Leroux one question, what would it be?

Why did you decide to give Erik such a monstrous(!) appearance and why did he react so strangely to Christine?

11. Does it bother you when people refer to ALW!Phantom as Erik? - No, not at all. I do that myself sometimes.

27. Does your real life environment know about your obsession? - I let people around me scratch the surface. Like they are allowed to know how damn often I’ve seen the musical or that I visited some of the original locations of the Leroux book. But I keep the dark abysses for myself, like creating nsfw PotO pics for example ;P .

5. Who is your favorite character who is not Erik?

   Wait. I have to choose just one?  Hmmm…if we’re talking the book, then I have to default to Christine, though Raoul and Nadir follow very closely behind.

    If we’re talking Yeston & Kopit/Cherik, I think it’s a toss-up between Christine and Gerard Carriere.

8. Do you sound like a banshee when you sing Christine’s part or are you quite competent?

    On a good day, I can reach most of her parts.  I’ve successfully sung through “Think of Me”, including the aria at the end, with relative competence.  I think I need more polishing/training to be able to finish “Phantom of the Opera” with all those freakin’ high notes.

21.  Which PoTO collectibles do you own?

   Alas, not enough.  In fact, if we’re talking strictly collectibles, the answer is none.  I plan to change that sometime in the future, though.  I’m thinking a poster (definitely), perhaps a necklace/earrings…that kind of thing.  In the meantime, I do have a Phantom shadow-box-thing which my sister-and-law made for me, and it has the Gerik mask and a fake rose in it.  And @jeremystollemyheart has those little doll commissions going on right now, and I plan on getting a Cherik.

23.  If you had the chance to ask Gaston Leroux one question, what would it be?

    “Ok, Mr. Gaston-Leroux-Sir, you have a great story, with great characters, and that’s all great and I love it.  But why did Philippe have to die???”

     Or, alternatively, “Erik didn’t really die at the end…right????”

Ah sorry again for the delay in answering this :) But thank you for the ask @wheel-of-fish! And thanks for the questions @ofbeautsandbeasts and @timebird84!

1. Who is your favorite ALW musical Phantom?

Oh hell. The first name that came to mind was Gary Mauer. But I do love me some Ben Crawford… BUT ALSO SAULO AH.

5. Who is your favorite character that’s not Erik?

Oof. The first one that came to mind was Daroga because of writing. But I gotta say Christine of course! 

… Look there are no rules to this so I get to choose however many I want okay?

13. How often do you bring up PotO in real life among friends and strangers?

There’s really only one friend in real life that I talk about PotO about lol @okcupidcalmdown Otherwise NEVER. I’ve got too much anxiety for that haha. 

21. Which PotO collectibles do you own?

Oh good question…. I have a playbill of the Las Vegas Phantom! show cause it was my first live show! Also have the tickets. I watched it twice, once in April 2012 and then I watched the last performance in September 2012. I bought the music box monkey, a souvenir program, my favorite mug, and a charm bracelet but I can’t find it :(  I have a playbill and souvenir program from the re-staged US tour from June 2015. They had a special plastic cup at the Pantages but I can’t find it either lol it’s in the cupboards somewhere. This doesn’t count too much but I did get Love Never Dies merch too, a T-Shirt, a  souvenir program,   and another mug. Watched Gardar and Meghan at Pantages in March or April of 2018 then againat the Segerstrom with Bronson and Rachel in May 2018. 

30. How does Erik look in your imagination?

Ohhhh. Super tall (to be fair everyone is tall to me cause I’m 5′0, but… super tall okay?), a little like Muirin007′s interpretation, but a little less skinny for Lerik. Oh I really like Klausscrimshaw’s interpretation for Merik. Basically a combination of the both.
