Alexei definitely wasn’t sleeping. Definitely doesn’t have the markings of a drool stain on his cheek or a groggy expression that makes him look more funny then annoyed in any capacity.
When he opens the door he’s surprised, “…John.” He greets, rubbing sleep from his eyes. It’s not early in the morning, or late at night. Maybe he’s just getting old enough for mid-day naps.

A young boy seems to be following Alexei down the street, trying to stay hidden behind trash cans and light poles. He isn't very discreet, but is clearly trying to be.
