Angy Rivera is a human rights activist fighting for immigration reform in the United States. Rivera emigrated from Colombia to the United States with her mother at the age of four. Excluded from state and federal college financial aid due to her immigration status, she became active with the undocumented-youth-led New York State Youth Leadership Council (NYSYLC). Rivera “came out” as undocumented in 2010 and soon after began Ask Angy, a national advice column for undocumented youth. Rivera continues to tell her story to help other undocumented youth come out of the shadows and to seek systemic immigration policy change. To hear Angy speak in person, come to our program The New New York Activists | Undocumented New Yorkers. This Thursday, October 20 at 6:30 pm.
