Happy Birthday Asuka! Doing anything on your special day?

“Well, thank you! I plan on spending the day dueling with my friends. There’s no doubt that my brother will be hanging over me all day and that a ton of girls from the Obelisk dorm will be fawning over him all the while, so it’ll be quite the commotion…but that can’t really be helped. My brother can’t help attracting a crowd. My parents actually plan on visiting the island, too, so that the four of us could all have dinner together. I’m really looking forward to it. It really has been a while since I last saw them.”

What do you hope for when you graduate? What do you want to do with your life? Do you even know?

“I hope to make a career out of dueling. I’ve been thinking a lot about becoming a dueling professor. There’s something about the academic setting that appeals to me, and I aspire to excel in that field in the future.”

Asuka, what do you look for in a man?

“To be honest, I haven’t really thought about it since dueling has been my main focus. Romance isn’t exactly a top priority for me at the moment. However, I guess if I were to…date anyone, I’d want them to see me for who I am, a duelist, instead of just some girl that they find attractive.”

How do you feel about your own body?

“I feel pretty confident about my body. I do my best to eat well and keep in shape. That way, I can face any duelist that comes my way at my strongest. That’s not to say that I don’t indulge every once in a while. I do enjoy the occasional sweet.”

What kind of decks do Jasmine and Mindy use?

“Junko uses a deck that centers around Harpie monsters. She grew up idolizing the infamous duelist Ms. Mai Kujaku so she built a deck similar to hers. I remember back in freshman year when we were assigned to write a paper about our favorite duelist, and she decided to write about Ms. Kujaku. She was so worried about writing a good enough paper that she asked Momoe and I to read it several times before she turned it in. All her hard work paid off because she wound up getting an A+. 

As for Momoe, she uses a deck dedicated to Warrior-type monsters. She picks her monsters based on what she finds…aesthetically pleasing about them. I can’t say that I could relate to such an inclination, but it works for her, and it’s not like she uses monsters solely because of their physical appearance. Whenever she duels, she does everything she can to prevent her monsters from getting destroyed, and when she can’t prevent that from happening, she gets really upset about it. She even considers it as a personal failure on her part. It takes a while for Junko and I to cheer her up when this happens.”

Asuka, what's your favorite card?

“Out of all my cards, I have to say that Cyber Angel Benten is my favorite in part due to its special effect. When Cyber Angel Benten destroys a monster in battle, it can inflict damage equal to the destroyed monster’s defense points to my opponent’s life points. Aside from that, I enjoy seeing Cyber Angel Benten’s display of both power and poise in battle.”
