When are we gonna see updates on Keeper of the Keywielders?
Hello hello!
It’s...been a while, huh? I apologize, it’s been close to almost a year since I’ve updated at this point >.< Things just got a bit busy on my hand, motivation got low, writers’ block kinda hit and...yeahhhh 😅😅😅
I’m eagerly preparing for it to make its return though! I have a few other fandom projects lined up for the early part of the summer (which I’m really excited to share soon with you guys!), after which I’ll be able to finally put my all back into KotK.
So! My target at this point for KotK to resume is early August.
I know it’s still a ways away, and I’m so sorry about that >.< But huge huge thank you for waiting so patiently and reaching out ❤ You’re just hyping me up to get back into it even more!
We never got a chance to see art of Kairi’s brother in Keeper of the Keywielders. What does he look like?
HOHOHOHOOOOOO
Unfortunately I can’t reveal pictures of him just yet due to spoilers, so the sparse descriptions in the fic so far will have to do for now 🙈 I really hope you stick around for the reveal though, it’s one I’m really excited for!
Thank you so much for taking the time to send an ask ❤
Hey I love your stories also I wonder at the sex ed story when will sora and kairi get together because namine is right sefier is not her type
Hi hi! So sorry it took me so long to get to this, but thank you so much for going out of your way to find me!
I agree with Namine too lolol and the hardcore SoKai in me is def gonna get their asses together...the question of when that will be is a good one though ^^;
Do you have any fun Headcanons for Amaya as she was growing up on Destiny Islands? What sort of shenanigans did she get up to with the Destiny Trio?
Oh man oh man I could honestly talk for days about these four~ I’m probably going to split this up by first talking about her bond with each individual member, and then events that involve all three of them. Apologies in advance for the length of my ramblings but I hope you enjoy!
Sora and Amaya
Living together and being siblings only a little over a year apart, saying these two are just close is an understatement
Amaya tends to fret over Sora’s actions and habits just a bit more than she does with their other friends, much to his chagrin. With her rather high-strung ways, she’s a bit like a second mother to him.
She loves her sleep almost as much as Sora does, but is disciplined enough to wake up early when they have to for school. In fact, she even wakes up 15-20 minutes earlier than she’d actually need to for her morning routine to make sure she has enough time to wake Sora up to get to school on time.
Their mom works part-time as a nurse, their father a fisherman who runs a market and occasionally goes on several-day long fishing trips. When both parents are away for the day, their mother often leaves meals prepped for them to heat up. Because Amaya has a habit of burning things, it is often up to Sora to take care of their meals on these days.
When their mother was pregnant with Haru, they and their father each bet 5 munny on the gender. Amaya was 10 munny richer.
Amaya often helps Sora with his homework. She tries to be patient with him, but sometimes she gets carried away enough to pretty much do the assignment for him. Sora’s not complaining (until he gets those test scores back).
(other members below the cut)
Riku and Amaya
Sora and Amaya’s father looked up to Riku’s father as an older brother/mentor, and so while the latter has three older children, when the two of them had kids around the same age, they made sure to raise them as close as they possibly could
Her bond with Riku goes back even further than the one she has with Sora, as these two share the same exact birthday. Their parents often did joint birthday parties for them as children; as teens, they split up the celebrations over two days, devoting one of these days to something Riku would want to do, and the other to Amaya.
With both of them being the older ones in their friend group and naturally having leadership tendencies, though with very different perspectives, the two tend to butt heads a lot.
Amaya gets frustrated because Sora tends to listen to and follow what Riku says over her, even though she’s his actual older sister.
Riku loves playing pranks on Amaya in particular because he gets the strongest reaction out of her.
While these two don’t always get along, they do have a sense of mutual respect for one another’s intelligence. Whenever a project is assigned in class, these two make sure to pair up or be in the same group, and always get the highest grade.
Though their remarks to each other are usually tinged with tons of sass, even if they don’t come around to the other person’s perspective, they always eventually take each other’s views into account when making decisions
While Amaya spends lots of time pouring over books and fretting over exams and papers, Riku tends to stick closer to the bare minimum - making sure to finish all his assignments and maybe reviewing notes before a test. Though Amaya usually gets better grades, he still usually makes second or third in class in a breeze.
Kairi and Amaya
Amaya was absolutely elated when Kairi arrived, finally able to enjoy the presence and company of another girl
These two have never argued or fought about anything
Amaya takes an active interest in Kairi’s creative hobbies, especially her writing. If Kairi ever mentions she’s writing a poem or short story, Amaya’s usually the first person she’ll show it to.
The two love watching crime and mystery dramas together. Every Thursday night, they meet up at one of their houses to catch up on the newest episode of their favorite show.
If Amaya ever is frustrated or needs to vent about something, Kairi is the first person she goes to, as she tends to offer the most diplomatic opinions.
When Amaya is getting stressed or too...Amaya-ish, Kairi often gently pokes fun at her, helping to ground her and take a step back to see how over-the-top she sometimes can be
While the two have very different senses of style (Kairi tends to gravitate towards a slightly tomboy-ish style, Amaya much more feminine) the two share a love for accessories. They often browse jewelry stands in the town square together when they have down time.
The Destiny Squad
As children, as Sora and Riku would spar, Kairi would watch and cheer them on excitedly, while Amaya would cringe in fear one of them would get hurt
Amaya started carrying around a first aid kit with her at all times around middle school one time after Sora got a particularly nasty gash while roughhousing
Before Kairi arrived, Amaya would often get roped into playing the imaginary Princess in Sora and Riku’s Pirate roleplay. After her arrival, the two would switch roles between joining the other two as Pirates and the Princess.
The four often bump into each other on the way to school. As they walk, Amaya is constantly fixing each of the other three’s uniforms to make sure they are presentable. (They’re often reverted by the end of the day).
Once Amaya and Riku hit age 13, their fathers allowed them to go on mini sailing and fishing trips on their own, Sora and Kairi allowed to join them on the understanding that they were the older two’s responsibility. While Riku enjoyed navigating and planning routes, Amaya would take on the role of making sure that they were properly equipped for the trip with food, fuel, tools, etc.
Their favorite house to hang out as is Kairi’s, as it’s the biggest and the most comfortable.
Out of the four, Riku spends the least time at his own house - or houses, as his parents are separated. He even has his own key to Sora and Amaya’s place.
Kairi’s the best cook out of the four. Though cooking’s not exactly a hobby for her, she occasionally brings baked goods or new dishes that she’s tried making, and almost always receives positive feedback from her friends.
Annual Island festivals are their favorite part of summer vacation. They all save up their munny to spend on stands, trinkets, and games. Once the sun starts to set, they quickly grab their favorite meals and then run up to the top of a hill in the corner before anyone else can - the prime spot to enjoy the giant fireworks show.
I could honestly write fill a book with these, but I’ll leave it at this! Thank you again for the ask!
Hello again!! I'd love to know some sibling Headcanons between Amaya, Haru, and Sora, if you have any!
Lol, fun fact, I’ve considered doing short little comics about these three to portray their dynamic a bit better, since it’s one that I really enjoy exploring! Too bad there aren’t 25 hours in a day… *sigh* Anyway, as asked, the headcanons!
Sora and Amaya were born when their parents were quite young (very early 20’s) and hadn’t quite established themselves. It was hard at first - their father was still learning how to properly run his fishing business, their mother trying to balance nursing school and raising two babies. 8 years later, both finally had steady jobs and were able to comfortably support their family. They had everything they wanted and made it past the grind. Having another child wasn’t quite on their radar…
While Haru’s arrival was unexpected, it certainly wasn’t unwelcome. Their parents were a bit worried at first, feeling that they might have to start back at square one, but it didn’t take them too long to come around to it - especially when they saw how eager Sora and Amaya were to become older siblings.
9-year-old Sora wanted a little brother, 10-year-old Amaya wanted a little sister. The latter was elated at the reveal of the baby’s gender, the former pretending to brush it off but wearing a pout for the rest of the day.
The two very quickly grew into the role of being older siblings - Amaya having a bit more experience than Sora at the subject, of course. Both of them were eager to help out with feeding, burping, and playing with their new baby sister. Amaya would step in to change diapers when needed, but Sora was always “busy”.
While their parents had experienced infant milestones with their two older children, they got a kick out of how fascinated Sora and Amaya were when Haru would reach them (rolling over, babbling, crawling, walking, first words, etc.)
Haru developed a personality very quickly. Girl was aware that she was the baby of the household, and still milks every second she can with it.
Though their parents were very hands-on with Sora and Amaya, they were a little more lax with Haru’s upbringing, often allowing her to get away with a lot more than the older two.
I have Sora call Amaya “Sis” since my fic is written in English, but if I were writing in Japanese, the honorific he’d use would be “Aneki”, a less formal version of “onee-san” that we often see, showing that there’s a level of respect between them. Haru, on the other hand, refers to both her older siblings by their first names, even though the age gap between them is much larger.
Haru doesn’t always understand boundaries, often walking into rooms without knocking and occasionally catching people in compromising positions. She gets a kick out of it, typically at the other person’s expense.
Haru looks up to Sora as the “fun” sibling, often turning to him when she’s bored (which isn’t unusual for her). He’s almost always open to entertain, playing pretend, doing animal imitations and funny voices, playing games, and pretty much anything else Haru might request.
Amaya’s the one Haru turns to when she wants more affection and cuddles. She also loves when she reads her bedtime stories.
Riku gets a kick out of teaching Haru bad words, much to especially Amaya’s chagrin.
Haru often wishes she was older so she could be closer to her siblings, jealous of all the things they get to do without her. Amaya and Sora do their best to balance spending time with her, but with school and other social obligations, they can’t always please her 100%.
Like her two older siblings, she loves her sleep and is especially hard to rouse in the morning
Haru can make friends with pretty much everyone - a trait that is often adored by people passing by, but one that gives Amaya anxiety as she tries to teach her the importance of “stranger danger”.
When she gets older, Haru is the best cook out of her siblings
While Haru can be an energetic handful (and a bit spoiled), it’s just so darn hard to not love this little bean, and Sora and Amaya would protecc at all costs
Again, I could ramble on and on about these three, but I hope this was still enjoyable to read and gave you at least a little more of a taste of their dynamic! Thank you again for the ask <3
For the emoji ask game 😢 - A that made you cry ⭐️ - How do you get your inspiration?
kdfjskdfjskdfj I’m so sorry this is so late!!!! let me now finally get to this (and thank you so much for asking!!!)
A scene that made you cry - Hm, I certainly have scenes planned for Keeper of the Keywielders that I anticipate making me want to cry, but I haven’t quite gotten there yet! I think the saddest so far was Amaya and Sora’s separation:
She grasped her brother’s hand as tightly as she could when that final gust hit them and flung them in the air like a hacky sack. He gripped back fiercely as they flew higher and higher towards the eye in the sky.
“You two always gotta stick together, no matter what.”
No matter what.
Mom, Dad, Haru, Kairi, and Riku…They were all gone.
All they had was each other.
They clung to one another for dear life. Amaya could feel Sora’s nails digging into the back of her hand as they continued to ascend, but she ignored the pain – in fact, she could barely feel it at all. Her body was completely numb to physical sensation. Right now, everything depended on staying with him.
But of course, like the rest of the night, things did not go according to plan. One more powerful zephyr was all it took to finally drive them apart.
“Sis!” Sora desperately cried out, attempting to reach her once more.
“Sora!” Amaya shrieked, trying with all her strength to grasp back, but to no avail.
The final thing Amaya felt was a warmth in her chest, her last sight a glimmer of light that radiated from it.
And then, one last time, everything disappeared.
It was over.
Keeper of the Keywielders, Chapter 4
How do you get your inspiration? - I try to separate myself from my characters themselves as much as I possibly can, but when it comes to the way they feel about certain situations or build relationships with other characters, a lot of that is based on personal experiences. Sora and Amaya’s relationship, for example, draws some inspiration between me and my own younger brother - our dynamic wasn’t exactly the same (we certainly weren’t as close when we were that age), but the feelings of concern about one another, the teasing, the general feel is all there.
Amaya herself is actually inspired a bit by my own mom xD. The borderline neurotic neat-freak personality is all based on her, and the annoyance her friends can sometimes feel with her is definitely inspired by my own feelings towards it lolol~
There’s a lot more I could probably say on the subject, but I think this gives the general gist. Thank you again for the ask~
Hello! For the emoji ask game about your writing: ☕- your favorite passage, 👻- 2-3 sentences from something not posted yet, 👶- Advice for New Writers
Yaaas let’s go~
For ☕- your favorite passage:
Hmm...this one’s pretty tough, not because I have a lot of “favorites” per se, but just because I have a lot of writing to sift through xD. There was one passage that sort of popped in my head though - this one’s from an old AU of mine called “A Date with my Best Friend’s Sister(s)”, an experimental fic where I tested out Amaya interacting with the Destiny Squad, and a romance with Riku in particular.
To give this passage a bit of context, Riku’s characterized as a guy who’s a bit afraid of commitment and sharing his true feelings, and just feels like a fish out of water when it comes to romance and romantic gestures in general. This particular moment takes place in the epilogue, set a year later than the main story, and on the anniversary of the main pairing’s relationship. I just really like this passage since I feel it shows Riku’s character development throughout the course of the story~
Once the coast is clear, I move the pile of clothes off my bed, making sure the present I've gotten for her that I hid underneath it isn't damaged.
I haven't bought her flowers since that last time, about a year ago – that night that she was babysitting Haru. I'll admit, my intentions behind getting them for her back then weren't entirely innocent. Not to mention the fact that I didn't even end up getting her the right ones, though she still was gracious about receiving them anyway. But, this time, I think these'll make her really happy.
I remember for a fact these are her favorites, after all.
It's a pretty simple gift, but, she told me to keep it that way. That, and, I honestly couldn't think of anything else to get her.
I'm bad at this stuff, alright?
Upon inspection, it looks like everything in the bouquet is still intact. Though, there is this weird card sticking out on the side of it…
'Behind The Flower,' it says. Oh, right, that flower language thing. I remember trying to scour for something that looked thoughtful enough the last time I went to that shop using these cards they had posted with all their flowers, though I don't think I looked at all when I went in earlier today.
'A symbol of femininity, softness, and temperance. Often bestowed upon one's first love.'
…Yeah, that sounds about right.
-A Date with my Best Friend’s Sister(s), Epilogue
👻- 2-3 sentences from something not posted yet
This is technically 4 sentences but:
“Shh…”
But in that moment, none of it mattered.
He was safe. Finally safe.

👶- Advice for New Writers
Never be afraid to ask for help! Even if you’re confident in what you’ve written, I think it’s always a good idea to get another perspective, which is something that I learned early on when I first started writing fanfic. My work used to be really heavy with exposition which would really stagnate some of the pacing, and it wasn’t something I realized until a couple of my (now really good!) friends pointed out to me, and it’s something I’ve really tried to work at over the past few years to improve! Someone who can be honest with you and build your confidence while still giving you things to work and improve on to make your work the best it can be is invaluable - whether it’s a friend, family member, or a random beta reader you find online, I highly recommend it!
