Ahh, thank you for the responses on your post! If it helps, I'm not white or american either. I'm Brazilian and brown. I'm on that limbo of not knowing if I fully count as Black, so I'm not into the loop of a lot of Black culture either, not from my country nor others. Tbh I'm not in the loop of a lot of Brazil's own culture either that I don't directly live on my day to day life. It's getting easier and easier for globalization (and American culture) to bleed into every aspect or our lives. I mean, we even have for real Halloween trick or treating here now where I live. It's definitely intriguing.

speaking of the kids!

Do you see Ares as being a good dad? Either in your story or in general?

In Desire for Peace, yes, he will be a good dad. He wasn't good with kids in his youth, but as time progressed and he had children, he got better, just with his own children. There will be moments when you guys get to see how he acted around and acts around kids.

But a little peek into what he is like with his and Aphrodite's children; I got a concept sketch of her as a baby with flowers stuck in her hair, and it wasn't Aphrodite or her attendees who did it.

In mythology, I would say so. I'm not going to say, "He was the best god!!! He did the least bad things!!! And he loves his children very much!!! Everyone else sucks!!!", like I know others would and others would expect. But from all of the myths I've seen from Ares, not just the Alcippe myth (people always seem to only bring that one up when discussing Ares' fatherhood), he cares about his children.

                            cold  but  bearable  ,  soft  breeze  hit  them  ,  hair  becoming  undone  the  longer  they  sit  outside  .  a  park  bench  was  their  current  home  —  together  sitting  in  silence  .  a  happy  silence  .  a  book  held  with  a  single  hand  ,  content  with  reading  ,  his  other  (  willingly  &  comfortably  )  with  fingers  intertwined  with  oikawa’s  .  each  word  read  in  a  slow  pace  ,  ‘  when  i  finish  this  page   we  can  go  .  ‘  an  agreement  keiji  had  suggested  ,  so  why  was  he  resenting  himself  for  reading  so  fast  ?  silent  enjoyment  with  their  current  position  ,  he  was  content  with  listening  to  the  sound  of  tooru  scrolling  on  his  phone  ,  with  their  hands  like  this  .  a  sudden  stop  in  his  train  of  thought  ——  he  finished  reading  .  .  .  but  something  else  .  a  glance  ,  eyes  following  the  trail  that  ended  at  his  hand  .  immediate  heat  shot  to  his  cheeks  ;  soft  (  was  that  chapstick  ?  )  lips  lightly  placed  onto  the  back  of  his  hand  .  dumbfounded  ,  crushes  suck  ,  keiji  decided  upon  .

                                end  of  their  weekend  long  visit  —  an  invitation  keiji  had  suggested  .  

[  msg  »  oikawa - san  ]  you  can  stay  at  my  house  this  weekend  .  .  .[  msg  »  aka - chan (ㆀ˘･з･˘)  ]  ok !! aww, did you miss me that much, aka-chan? (*´◒`*)

                                  a  dreadful  walk  to  the  bus  stop  ,  ‘  i  don’t  want  him  to  leave  .  ‘  a  running  thought  with  each  step  .  maybe  he  was  being  selfish  —  but  three  days  spent  with  oikawa  he  had  grown  use  to  the  constant  company  .  this  time  they  weren’t  hand  in  hand  .  .  .  different  .  calm  demeanor  on  the  outer  but  inner  self  the  repetitive  thought  of  someway  somehow  i  made  things  akward  .  sure  enough  ,  that  thought  process  was  interrupted  .  a  blink  ,  breathing  paused  ,  what  was  a  mere  second  felt  like  an  eternity  .  cheesy  .  flushed  cheeks  ——  more  like  face  ,  an  unfair  tactic  .  lips  placed  against  the  corner  of  his  lips  (  teasing  was  cruel  )  .  a  wink  was  given  and  he  was  soon  watching  tooru  disappear  onto  a  bus  .

                                  uncharacteristically  courageous    ——   a  sudden  plot  for  revenge  (  that’s  what  happens  when  you  tease  )  .  limb  extended  ,  hand  disappearing  beneath  brunette  hair  ,  forcing  tooru  to  lean  down  just  a  bit  .  a  force  to  ensure  his  boyfriend  has  no  view  of  reddened  cheeks  .  inhale  .  .  .  exhale  .  lips  pressed  against  gently  to  tooru’s  neck  .  just  a  second  ——-  but  long  enough  to  ensure  both  would  take  notice  to  what  he  had  just  done  .  pulling  back  ,  flustered  fingers  get  tangled  in  hair  for  a  moment  ,  embarrassing  .      ❛       thanks  for  visiting  .  .  .  again  .       ❜   the  only  words  that  managed  to  get  out  .  damn  him  for  getting  me  tongue  tied  .

                                 eyes  fluttered  shut  ,  eyelashes  resting  atop  of  apples  of  cheeks  .  rose  dusted  facial  ,  quite  snores  .  deep  asleep  ——  happily  asleep  .  lost  in  a  dream  ,  one  that  left  him  flustered  .  an  everyday  scenario  ,  tv  left  to  be  nothing  but  background  noise  .  ignoring  whatever  kind  of  newscast  that  was  talking  about  the  weather  ( ? )  both  too  focused  on  each  other  ,  a  casual  conversation  ,  tooru  speaking  the  most  ,  keiji  happily  listening  and  returning  an  occasional    ‘  mhm  ‘  .  but  if  it  was  just  casual  why  would  he  be  left  in  a  flustered  mess  upon  waking  up  ??  because  mid  sentence  stopped  ,  and  a  sudden  scenario  change  ,  before  he  could  realize  it  lips  were  connected  and  a  gentle  kiss  was  shared  .  .  .  this  was  only  a  dream  .  .  .  relationships  suck  .

                                 it’s  been  a  week  since  his  dream  ——  he  avoided  tooru  as  much  as  he  could  .  the  constant  ‘  i  have  practice  ‘  excuse  during  the  week  .  and  now  they  sit  in  silence  together  at  tooru’s  apartment  .  not  a  comfortable  silence  they  both  enjoyed  ,  akward  .  keiji  blames  himself  ,  light  pink  dusted  facial  with  every  inch  they  grew  closer  .  sweaty  hands  refused  touch  ,  eyes  avoided  contact  .  .  .  the  silence  in  the  room  broken  by  the  brave  .    ❛       aka  -  chan  ,  you’re  ignoring  me  all  day  .  why  ?       ❜    dreaded  confrontation  ,  forced  to  make  eye  contact  .  .  .  why  had  this  resembled  what  he  had  dreamt  ??  all  walls  fell  ,  almost  immediately  .  a  lean  in  from  keiji’s  side  ,  and  he  could  tell  tooru  leant  in  as  well  .  .  .  dumb  he  thought  ,  so  much  drama  put  into  their  first  kiss  ,  he  allowed  himself  to  make  it  over  dramatic  .  .  .  .  but  maybe  it  was  worth  it  .  because  this  wasn’t  a  dream  ,  a  simple  peck  to  the  neck  ,  nor  was  it  a  feathered  kiss  to  the  corner  of  lips  to  play  a  trick  ,  or  an  out  of  nowhere  touch  to  his  hand  .  lips  pressed  to  each  other  ———  only  lasted  for  maybe  5  seconds  .  .  .  but  it  felt  like  forever  .  parting  away  was  something   neither  wanted  ,  but  bravery  vanished  from  both  the  moment  eyes  met  .  faces  lit  up  red  ,  awkward  smiles  ,  tooru’s  bigger  than  keiji’s  .  akaashi  waited  ,  second  to  clear  throat  ———-   ❛       you’re  too  happy  about  this  .       ❜    an  attempt  to  point  fingers  ,  but  the  smile  &  blush  &  sheepish  look  in  his  eyes  gave  him  away  as  well  .
