favorite dennis headcanon?
i don’t have #that many because i love the canon text so much that i don’t really think anything needs to be changed [meaning that most my ideas are usually inferred from what already exists/is already implied] but here is a master post [?] of stuff i think makes sense for him as a character even though not explicitly stated;
he had acne from ages 12-15
he used to be blonde like dee but his hair started getting darker in middle school and he still clings onto it referring to his hair color as “dirty blonde”
adding onto that, he started going grey in his early 30s
he has extremely sensitive skin [eczema, rosacea, friction rash on his inner thighs, needs really high spf and very specific fabric softeners, etc] and uses blemish stickers in later years because he’s the king of keeping up with trends
his first celebrity crushes were Pamela Anderson and Mel Gibson
he got his SUV when he was 17
the thong in Kitten Mitten’s is not a one off and he actually wears women’s underwear way more often than seen in the show
Maureen was a cheerleader and he watched all her games
whenever he would open empty boxes on Christmas, Barbara would always make it up to him the next week
Dee was taller than Dennis until they turn 15
he’s prescribed glasses but never wears them and wears contacts in his adult years
he takes up pilates in s11 and it’s the only exercise he’s ever enjoyed and stuck to
he’s one of those “don’t talk to me until i’ve had my coffee” people
he takes all the LW dvds with him to North Dakota including the ones he and Mac made together
he has a naturally slow metabolism and got kinda chubby by the time he reached high school - not egregiously because Barbara wouldn’t have allowed it and i think his height helped make it less obvious once he had his growth spurt but he doesn’t shift his puppy fat until his last year of college and even then he puts it all back on the second he moves in with Mac. his biology is different to Dee’s in that sense so losing weight is just kinda hard for him
speaking of Dennis and Dee’s genes, obviously we know what their parents look like because all four of them are played by actors but i like to think that theoretically, Dennis looks more like Barbara/physically takes after Barbara more, and Dee looks more like Bruce/physically takes after Bruce more
he’s always eaten a lot/had a big appetite/enjoyed food but i don’t think it became legitimate binge eating until he was 14
the sideburns in s4 are to make his face appear more chiselled [this is the first season we start to see him binge eat so i imagine he starts getting a bit more insecure]
the boba teas he gets in DTAMHD were different flavors
he likes milk chocolate > white chocolate > dark chocolate but he tells everyone his favorite is dark chocolate
he’s a TikTok doom scroller [fyp is cooking videos and skincare] with no profile pic on his account
he’s passionate about TV settings and can notice the smallest change
he uses a weighted blanket
he falls asleep on his back but wakes up on his front
he played with Barbara’s makeup a lot when he was a kid
he steals Dee’s clothes even if they don’t fit him [until s12 when he stops completely]

his favorite color is actually red even though he wears more blue

he has stretch marks [mainly on his upper inner arms, the sides of his upper thighs and his ass]
Dee tried to teach him how to purge when he was 14 but he could never do it
he and Dee have relapsed on crack more times than we see in the show
he pretended not to know Dee in college but visited her every week when she was sectioned
Dennis came up with the Tequila-in-sunscreen-bottles trick when they were 15 and their parents never noticed
when the gang’s trip to the grand canyon failed, Dennis and Dee went properly together a few weeks later just the two of them
on the rare occasion that he does work out, he puts sugar in his protein shakes

Dennis and Maureen have hooked up many times off screen throughout the timeline of the show [he phones her on gasoline after his chemical peel, drunk in his range rover after the High School Reunion, sometime during s9 i haven’t decided when yet, last resort at end of the gang group dates, after his diagnosis, immediately drove to hers after the art viewing in smut film and stayed there for 4 days, maybe once when he was sneaking off when living in the suburbs, 1000% after the Bill vs The McPoyles court case coz the laser pointer got him in the mood, maybe Abby got him thinking about families when at the waterpark and he drove to hers after then too]
Dennis’ first crush on a real guy was Bill [considering he was the High School Heartthrob and I always imagine he’s older than Maureen so it’s not like serious crush like how he felt about Maureen but maybe he got butterflies every now and then]
Dennis hooked up with Country Mac on Mac Day
he was taught how to ski by Barbara and used to win races when he was younger
he was oblivious to Barbara’s drug addiction as a child
all his jeans s3-s5 were Barbara’s
he did actually tell Barbara about Frank cheating
Dennis starts taking his bpd medication somewhere towards the end of season 10 and he continues to take them s11-12 staying on them after leaving Philly when he goes to North Dakota [he leaves them at Dee’s when he and Mac moved to the suburbs] and a little while when he’s returned, unmedicated s14 with immediate stop, goes back on them for s15 but slowly comes off them and he’s healthily unmedicated s16 onwards
has different passwords for everything and remembers them all
he doesn’t snore and Dee used to think he was dead sometimes when they’d have sleepovers as children
he’s not a morning person unless its on his terms in which case waking up is really easy
