Hey lovely!! I have some asks! 😘
🌵- What did you start with first for your WIP? Worldbuilding, character, or plot?
🕳️- Talk about a research rabbit hole you fell down!

It depends on the story. Sometimes I get a story in my head and I write out what that is, like putting the plot into bullet points. And with fanfic, the characters are set, but how they are or the world I need to write, not so much. So as I am trying to fill out my plot, I kinda always get lost world building. I need every little details I can think of before I can go back to writing.
Like I have a pic I’m working on about the Bridgerton pocket watch, and I decided to figure out who the first Viscount that had that watch was, how did he get it, when, why was it given to his son at 8… this led me to making a list of all the Viscounts before Anthony the 9th… all the way to the modern Anthony born 1984 who is the 16th Viscount. Did I need this much of my world built… No. But meetings get boring and my mind does far too much 😂😂😂

I have a fic that I have been working on for over a year on and off because I want to work on one scene then end up back in my research rabbit hole about ships in the 1800s.
I was so close to drawing out the ship so every time I was changing scene or I had a character walk across the ship, I wanted to know what they would see, bump into. It was also an exercise for me to get better at painting the scene in my stories, something I am still working on but I got side tracked to the language Navy men used, what ports were available on the journey, how the cook does not set fire to the ship, where everything is kept. My YouTube just had ship stuff for ages.
I have no use of the information I have in my head about the different roles/titles on a ship, who sleeps where, how the pissdale works, where animals are kept… no use what so ever, and half the time, when I’m away from the document, some of the information leave my head. But when I’m in my not so little rabbit hole, I am literally moving around my house imagining the different rooms, what I might expect there… At this point, I’m having more fun building this ship in my mind than actually writing the story. Which is usually why there is always a long hiatus with my stories, new ideas then to literally transport me 😆 then I don’t know how to get back.
