With an Aquarius Ascendant, I would interpret that as someone who is unassuming to most, but actually is quite bold. I could also see it as someone who is highly innovative, as the modern ruling of Aquarius is Uranus, and Uranus is commonly associated with innovations, inventions, and electricity.

If Jupiter (expansion, boldness) and Aquarius (innovative, detached) have the tension of a square, I see it as someone who has an internal struggle with themself. Maybe they had trouble accepting their difference from others - but once they choose to accept themself, big things are possible. Possibly too the square could mean that they have an idealized version of themselves, and it's a constant growth process to get to their ideal.
