I’m under the impression that Kim/Ron is sort of underrated, it’s not as popular as other friends-to-lovers ships and I’ve even seen a couple of people say it was “forced” and tbh I couldn’t disagree more, I think is one of the best friends to lovers ships.
Like the arguments against KimRon can be chalked to “it was forced or they were better as friends” or “Ron didn’t deserved her” which to each their own, yet I don’t think it was forced, the romance aspect was just not spoon-fed to you and when they get together not much of their relationship changes so I don’t understand the “they were better as friends” arguments because, they are still best friends!
And I kind of hate the whole “Ron didn’t deserved her” argument because what does “deserve” even mean? Kim trusted him with his life, he was always there to support her and both of them made a great team and complemented each other, I just don’t understand why KimRon isn’t more popular.
Yes yes yes a thousand times yes!
I feel like KimRon is the 'underrated' ship compared to DrakGo because with KimRon, it sort of a....what-you-see-is-what-you-get type thing, if you know what I mean? Like, they explored their relationship so so well throughout the show whereas the fun of Drakgo is exploring their dynamic in ALL aspects--past, future, you name it, because the interesting twist is they're villains. (Note: of course there's tons to explore with KimRon also, like post-show stuff or AUs, but Kim and Ron's dynamic is there, and it's given how it was founded and grown is all I mean).
And I don't understand what they mean by "forced" either, because they clearly did not watch the same show. I am 100% for people interpreting media as they will, thats the beauty and fun of it. But I can't for the life of me see how it KimRon apparently came out of nowhere because it clearly didn't. And my favorite part of their eventual romance, as I've said before, is that fundamentally their relationship didn't change! They were still the same people, they just held hands and kissed a couple of times!
And don't get me started on the whole "Ron doesn't deserve her" bs because it's such an insult not only to Ron, but to Kim also! Like, Kim is a very smart, independent and capable young woman and she knows what she wants. And she wanted Ron to be the one to be by her side. She was the one who chose him, and then when he finally reciprocated her feelings they made it official. I think in that case people just can't get past the idea that Ron being a klutz does not equal Ron being undeserving. He's not stupid by any means, he just marches to the beat of his own drum! There's a reason the key to Shego's success was to split Team Possible: their compatibility.
I think, in the end, part of it also is that Kim Possible isn't as remembered as some of the live action shows on Disney Channel to the general public. Like yea, some people remember the Kimmunicator ringtone, or Shego being their "awakening" (read: me) but it's not the same to them as like...Hannah Montana, or Wizards, or even That's So Raven. It's just sort of...flown under the radar in terms of popularity, and Kim and Ron's relationship (sadly) is one of the least remembered parts of it. (Except for So The Drama. God bless So the Drama).
