Good afternoon, Mr. Wick! Would you be so kind as to tell that famous story about how you killed three people with one pencil? Oh please!

Sigh They always want the pencil story. Okay.

I went to a bar, unarmed. I was being stupid. Pretending to be an ordinary person for a night. Sat by myself and gave my order to a bartender, a cute blond with a notepad and a pencil. This group of guys approached me. Asked me to join a game of pool. I thought, sure.

We played for a while and everything was okay and then they noticed that bartender. Started…talking, as a certain kind of man talks about beautiful women. These were well-to-do business types, used to getting what they want.

The first guy called her over. Flirting with her, asking for her number, saying obscene things.

The second one put hands on her. I said very calmly that he shouldn't do that, to no avail.

And the third guy started saying she was coming home with him if she wanted to keep her job. Something about knowing the owner of the bar. She looked scared as hell. I didn't like that.

I said, "Ma'am, can I borrow your pencil?" She said yes of course.

So picture this: The first stab puts the pencil through the first guy's windpipe. I pull it back out.

The second guy grabs me, trying to pull me back. I stab over my shoulder, into his hand. He lets go. I spin to face him and stab again, take out his eye. Another stab, through the side of his head - there's a soft spot at the temple, above the ear - anyway.

The third one starts backing up, scared, brandishing the pool cue like he can defend himself with that, and I just rush him, pencil at waist level.

You can probably guess where it ended up. There was…a lot of screaming. So I pulled it out and drove it through his throat, which shut him up.

And, well. That was that. Took all of a minute.

The bar cleared out after that, except for Viggo. He was sitting at a corner booth the whole time, just watching. The bastard was impressed. That was how we met, and the reason he hired me.

I come back with a croissant in hand, you look to my other one to see that I haven’t given you a check for your croissant.

“Here you go…” I muttered, leaning down to put your croissant on the table, a smile planted on my lips.

“I know I shouldn’t be involved with your personal life but the least I can do is have your croissant on the house.”

I chuckled softly, a faint blush flushed on my once pale cheeks.

“If there was any way I could just relieve you of your stress I would.”

You could tell I was being genuine, the way my eyelashes fluttered to meet your gaze, my hand holding my weight on the wooden table as I leaned down on it. It was only seconds after before I turned back around, about to head back to the counter.

This is too much to resist. "Wait." My hand catches your wrist, firm but gentle. I can feel your pulse under the skin and it sends my own racing.

"I can think of ways." I try to control my voice, but it comes out low and purring regardless.

I glance around. The cafe is almost empty, near closing, and no other workers in sight. The next thing I know, you're pulling me towards a storage closet in the back. There's only standing room, and our chests are almost touching, our breath mixing as I savor the hungry look on your face and allow myself to slide a hand up the base of your neck, buried in your hair. You want this as much as I do and it makes something flutter inside of me. To be wanted. Trusted, even if I don't deserve it. We're surrounded by the pink ribbons that the cafe ties around its cupcake boxes. Rich-smelling coffee. Jars full of sprinkles. Sugar. Your scent, sweeter than any of them.

There's no flat surfaces, but who needs those? I lift you by the ass with a single arm, enjoying the little gasp that elicits, and kiss you through a smile as your legs wrap around my waist. God, I'm already hard.

That croissant will just have to wait for later. I have something much more delicious to taste.

Are you trapped by the High Table? Are you a survivor of trafficking or indoctrination? Are you bound by a marker? Are you encumbered by debts you can never repay? Are you hunted? Are you hunting someone you care for, against your will?

You are not alone. There are thousands of us. Every major city is crawling with those yearning to break free. The Baba Yaga lives, and he is angry. The High Table is in chaos. Join the revolution.

Target 1: Lines of communication. We have the pigeons, but they don't. If their secure broadcast stations go down, they have nothing. They can no longer tell their people where we are, or tell strangers to hunt us en masse at the click of a button.

Target 2: Assets. Burn money, burn marker ledgers, burn blackmail material kept as leverage by mob leaders, burn anything that allows them to maintain a hold on power. "Deconsecrate" any Continental that grants shelter to High Table members and their subordinates.

Target 3: Those High Table members who stand against us. High Table members, you have 24 hours to decide where you stand.
