How can trans men and trans masc enbies do better in solidarity and support of trans women?

what a great question!

i think that trans masc and non binary people already do so much in solidarity with trans women by simply existing because queerness and transness is so inextricably linked to the fight against misogyny. and if anything, i think trans women could do a lot more to increase visibility for trans masc people and fight to combat non-binary erasure.

however, i think that one thing that all queer and trans people could do more of (not just trans masc and non-binary people) is listen to people of color. white queer and trans people seem to forget that just because they are themselves oppressed by the patriarchy, that their whiteness supersedes their oppressed identities.

I am a very moody Person when music is concerned.

I really like AnnenMayKantereit and will listen to "Jenny, Jenny" or "Vielleicht, Vielleicht". This is for times when I want to cuddle up in my bed and feel cozy.

The first is about a woman (Jenny) who is a flight attendant who has been all over the world but she has never really experienced any of the countries. She arrives home and doesn't know where she has been. She is not happy, but continues to smile for her passengers and hopes for that promotion and dreams of Panama.

Vielleicht, Vielleicht is about a relationship that is very relaxed and secure. Henning says that he enjoys the little moments in a relationship, like when his girlfriend asks him, after taking a shower and telling him, that it is going to be a long day, what he wants to do that evening. He thinks that maybe, maybe it can always be like this. His partner sees what he doesn't show anybody else, and that he can tell her what he keeps from himself (more or less a quote). I think it is very sweet and wholesome.

Also Hennings voice is very, very, oh so very deep and beautiful (honestly, listen to Ozean, that growl does things to me...).

But I grew up on a lot of my Dad's rock collection, so I will always have a soft spot for "die Toten Hosen" . So when I'm cleaning and dancing like an insane person through my parents home yelling "Hier kommt Alex "

And since I saw him live a couple of years ago I will not object to a little Nico Santos now and then.

But when I'm sulky I will listen to "Hurra, Die Welt geht unter" and "Es ist noch Suppe da" all day long

My brother listens to a lot of rap music, I basically don't like that because of, um, association?

My parents have this one band "Rockhaus". It is only famous because it existed in eastern Germany, when it was divided. My parents like it, I don't. Maybe it is because I am too young, but they insist on playing everywhere on full volume, so I kind of grew to hate it.

Ballermannmusik makes me aggressive, but in a passive way?

I don't think there is a singular song that I hate with a passion.

you can get this stuff on amazon or at sally beauty pretty inexpensively ive tried a bunch of different brands and this is the one with the most variation and vibrancy and for whatever reason it LASTS. like when I did the hot pink, my hair was still pink 6 months after dyeing. might just be the texture of my hair tho so results may vary!

Hi! I have a question if you don't mind.

I recently figured out that I could possibly be a demi girl? I don't necessarily mind being called a girl but yeah. I prefer they/them over she/her pronouns and would like to look more androgynous (not that any of those things have anything to do with my gender!)

My real question was do I still fall under the trans umbrella? I was assigned female at birth and I still feel female just not like entirely? Does that make sense? I'm just a bit confused (and very scared of accidentally stepping on someones toes)

absolutely yes! there is no barrier to identifying as trans. as long as that is how you would like to identify, then you are trans! don't let anyone gatekeep that from you, including yourself!

i think that you are very self-aware in wanting to make sure you dont step on anyone's toes. and thats important! keep that! but what i do think is very important to add is that identifying as trans does not negate the privilege you experience.

what i mean by that is that a lot of people often overlook the intersectionality of oppressed identities. all trans people are oppressed but we are not all oppressed equally. black and indigenous trans women in particular face the most oppression because they experience the oppression of their skin color as well as an enormous amount of misogyny. all of that oppression works together and makes the experience of being a black or indigenous trans woman more difficult than the experience of white trans people or even that of myself as an asian trans woman.

youre not stepping on anyone's toes by identifying as trans as long as you dont use that identity to avoid examining your existing privileges. we all need to be constantly doing that work, listening to black and indigenous voices, pro-actively being anti-racist, and uplifting those in our community who face the most oppression.

oh absolutely. i’m hella autistic so i’ll wear the same outfit for like a week and only change to go somewhere lol. an oversized t-shirt and shorts will always be gender for me and so like 95% of the time i’m wearing that haha
