I've got a question if you're willing to talk about it. I really love your wigs and they look so good on you, and super natural. I was wondering if you could talk about what you look for in a wig or what makes a good wig? I'm transmasc/nonbinary but I'd like to be able to have long hair sometimes and I haven't found any guides about wigs. Thank you ❤️
I just started wearing wigs recently. I got the black wig from a friend (though I *think* they purchased it on Amazon) and my long brown wigs from Amazon. My first suggestion would be to read reviews and see how many complaints their are. Some manufacturers use cheaper materials for their synthetics which cause them to clump and shed like crazy (like my first brown wig - rip).
Also, you're going to want a wig brush and/or comb. These are different from regular brushes because their bristles are wider apart and have looped or rounded ends. This keeps them from tugging too hard on your wig when brushing/combing them, which will reduce shedding to a minimum. You'll want to brush out/comb out your wig after every use to keep them from getting too many knots.
You'll also want to find some good dry shampoos and leave-in conditioners (though I've been told that you may be able to use fabric softener as a successful conditioner for synthetic wigs. I haven't tried it yet, though.) Don't wash too often to avoid drying out the wig.
Hair stylists also provide wig cutting services, where they will restyle and re-layer your wigs, helping to give a more unique and more natural look (see my first pictures of the black wig vs. more recent ones)
I'm very new to wig care so I'm still learning, but this is what I've learned so far. I wish you luck! And I've been loving the freedom that wigs are giving me! I can finally do what I want with my hair since I can just wear a wig to hide it at work, and also have the freedom to change up my look depending on my mood!
