Please remember that throughout both games, Raz is said to have incredibly strong mental defenses. Three trained Psychonauts couldn't get through, and Augustus does it in [insert however long it takes to beat Meat Circus].
He's definitely skilled with that. To a degree that I think people should give him way more credit for. That (And TK) are likely some of his specialties.

I personally disagree with this idea but I could imagine them doing that just to try to distract someone else. Kind of like that one argument scene in National Treasure 2? I might be referencing crazy random things though.
