Mint chocolate
I don't like it
There’s a shorty trying to fix the fridge and failing miserably at it. At least two kids are watching from afar and debating when Red will give up on it.
Vince comes home from work to find Red fixing...well attempting to fix the fridge, and he can't hide the evil grin that parts his cheeks as he watches without a word beside his children, sitting next to the youngest to pull him into his lap to hug them tight.
(This is an ask for Vin!)
Vin, a certain Pre-War wasteland lawyer of my acquaintance has been pining terribly over her long-lost law school diploma as of late! So much so, that her former Paladin boyfriend has resolved to get it back for her to cheer her up (a little Vertibird tells me that he plans to surprise her with it in the near future! I think she’s going to be over the moon…)
Is there a particularly beloved personal item you had before the Great War that you’d be delighted to see again - maybe something from your childhood, a family heirloom, or some other object of great sentimental value? If there is, I’d love to hear about it, and I sure hope it turns up someday when you least expect it!
- Dubs
"Well, I've been beyond Lucky to get several things back!" Vin counts them off on his fingers.
"Pop's postman cap, found on the dresser in the ruins of his old apartment, actually where I grew up.
I got an old t-shirt back! Knew it was mine, Nora had drawn a little fox on the label. Fox Squad. We were a damn good team.
Part of my old, beloved motorcycle, the one I sold to Ike so I could buy Codsworth. Sly ol' dog never sold it on like he said he would. Sturges and I rescued the engine upgrade that Pop and I installed. Sturges and friends then sneakily brought Bradburton's pristine Lone Wanderer over, fixed it up - you can't leave a beaut like that just sitting around for two centuries without it needin' a complete look-over - anyhow, he added the upgrade and gave it to Mac and I for our wedding! Yeah, Mac's only ridden on it with me once. He doesn't travel well. Shaun and Dan, however, they love ridin' shotgun. Which, these days, is literal. The noise attracts all kinds of unwelcome attention!"
Vin laughs briefly but it fades into melancholy.
"Somethin' else I got back: a photograph. A precious photograph of Nora. Codsworth found it under the floorboards when he was helping me to clear the old place out before we boarded it up. I promised Shaun I'd do it up for him when he and Kasumi are ready to settle down. Yeah, he is all grown up now. No, I haven't started on the place yet. Not yet.
What else... oh, heh. I'd better include the best of this list. Not a thing but a person... I got my Aunt Libby back. Yeah, she's changed alot. Never used to swear, drink or smoke, never used a firearm to my knowledge growing up. Of course, she's ghouled. She never got frozen in a vault. I love having her in Sanctuary but she can never stay too long, it's real hard. She still recalls being with her son here, visiting me and Nora and the b... Yeah, well. Time has not been kind. I do have an old hair tie of Vonnie's. Always wear it. Shauny's started sporting a man-bun like he did, too. Looks good on him.
As for what I'd like back, well, can I really ask for anything else after that long list?
He strokes his signature mustache for a few breaths.
Actually, come ta think of it, my pal Jimmy... James Kizamura, he was my C.O. He fell at Anchorage. Only thing I had left of him was a set of Juzu prayer beads made of beautiful warm, brown Japanese Sendan wood. Now, I was never a religious guy but Jimmy was raised Shinto and those meant a lot to him, so when I read that he'd left them to me, I treasured 'em. Where they are now I have no idea. Pretty sure they were safe in my lockbox in the closet when I fled. Of course, when I got back even the shelves were missing. I really hope they turn up one day. Might put a word in with Daisy and Nick; if anyone can find it, those two can."

👾🔦☕️💬 for the ask game :3
👾 - funniest out-of-context system quote? has to be one of these: "at the end of the day, it's night" -Vincent Nox Valentine "all the deaths wouldn't have happened if she just got to transition" -Oliver Warin Oleander "Scientifically, darling, you'd be more likely to be a himbo than a king nowadays" -Ethan "I may be a whore, but I'm a whore with class" - Vivian "blows up parsnips with mind" -Strade (Miz) "I'm throwing that baby out the window" - Jack "do you think if the sys did drugs we'd still be able to mask?"- Vortex
☕ - what is switching like for you? think about this gives me mad impost syndrome sometimes bc it feels almost seamless at times and it makes me anxious- can't really tell who is there sometimes either for me in particular unless something bad happens and I can tell I'm under so much stress someone showed up- but even then I can't exactly always tell who unless I or someone else notices a change in behavior (ie, liking something ik I wouldn't generally like- or mannerisms I would never do willingly like talking with a mouth full of food)
🔦 - how did you discover your system? when someone else pointed out to the previous host that during mental spirals they were having it didn't really sound anything like the host at all after a few years of knowing us- they went out of their way to "talk to your brain" they said at the time and then they noticed it was me lashing out at the host and started to actually interact with me and improve our personal relationship- eventually, the host couldn't handle the stress of being cheated on and eventually went dormant for a time (they are back after a few more years) and I took over hosting since then. so that's how we got here
💬 - free space!! tell me about something! I have so many people in my blender mix (as in so many people in my sys merged to make me) that it gives me imposter syndrome stuff going on bc I gaslight myself into thinking I'm just kin-ing the characters and my source memories are just headcanons also, I'm highly possessive :3 But you dear asker know all this about me already ya goof
Shooting Star: for Vin and Vinny
shooting star: who is someone you trust to help you make the right decisions?
Vin hums a moment, and thinks pretty hard. He had a handful of people who he trusted. Red, and their children, Reds Boss, and up until recently his own brother... He scratches his head, and ultimately shrugs. "Red, I 'spose. Though sometimes he makes some pretty questionable decisions." He answer, squinting at Red before returning his attention to the question at hand.
Vinny doesn't even think about it as he instantly answers. "Dad of course. Who else?" He beams eerily.
Red might be hiding due to recent events. Vin, hopefully you’re not as merciless as the swap house. Rip Red if that is the case.
Vin squints at the cryptic message left for him. He had left for a couple days...to where? Who knows. "Hopefully I'm not as....what?" He questions himself aloud as he made his way to their home...might as well start looking there... What a weird...and ominous text.
