Dear Diary

September 2019

Dear Diary,

I feel so completely and utterly lost at Hogwarts sometimes. It’s os much bigger than I ever expected, and there are so many trick stairs and hidden passages, and so many people who I should know but I just don’t.

Thankfully, an older Ravenclaw girl named Lucy has taken pity on me. I think she’s a Weasley but she never mentions her last name and the rest of them don’t seem to spend as much time with her as they do with each other, so maybe I’m wrong.

I don’t understand why my brother and sister aren’t the ones showing me around, but I guess they think I can fend for myself. I’m really glad Lucy has taken me under her wing and is showing me things, though, because I already feel a lot calmer and less like I’m going to get lost and end up in a boy’s loo or a teacher’s apartment or something.

I’m really glad I met Lucy! Now if I could only make some friends as amazing as her in my own year, things would be perfect.

Here’s hoping Hogwarts helps me get better at meeting people soon!

Dear History of Magic notebook,

SO MANY HIDDEN WEASLEYS. I think I’m going to like Lucy, though. At first I thought she was a boring smarty pants like Lou or her sister Molly, but then I saw her arguing with Scorpius Malfoy. I swear I thought she was about to slap him, it was so bad ass of her! Plus she’s one of Roxy’s favorites, there has to be a reason, right?

Someone should teach her to play Quidditch good enough to be on her house team. Maybe I could do it, and then we’d have more reason to be friends. Or we could bond over how her hair’s always bouncy and mine’s always windblown from flying, and we don’t have like... super smooth hair like all the other girls. Look out, Lucy, you’re about to become my third or fifth favorite Wotter, depending on how cool you are once I actually get to know you better!
