Wait, is Frozen getting an actual sequel?
Yes, Frozen is getting a sequel.
Have you heard about the Frozen 2 plot possibility? Anna and Elsa may be placed in a conflict with a king of some sort, although Chris Buck may change it and has an ending for the film already
The only thing that has been confirmed by Chris Buck about the sequel is that they have an idea of how they want it to end, most likely to actually be the way it ends. Meaning, the end of the movie will be sort of the paper Let it Go had during the Frozen development– the movie got built around it.
There is no other plot news. All the other things you have probably heard about are rumors, until proven otherwise, meaning: being confirmed by someone at the studios.
The sequel doesn’t even have a set date already.
There was a picture of the release dates of the future Disney movies released some days ago. There are all the movies that will be released by Disney here but animation wise it goes from Big Hero 6 (2014) to Toy Story 4 (set for 2017). That’s around 4 and a half years from now. Frozen 2 isn’t included which means that the movie doesn’t have a set date yet because it’s in development.
This means that the movie is getting built. Right now they could have a scene in mind and develop it only to find out some months later that that’s the thing that’s making something else in the movie not work; fixing it only by deleting the take.
Chris Buck isn’t the only person who would and will have the final word about what goes in the movie. You’re forgetting about co-director Jennifer Lee and producer Peter del Vecho. Also John Lasseter who’s the CCO at the studios. There’s a whole team at the studio.
If the sequel were to come for around 2018 it’s most likely that we start getting something about the plot, new characters (if there are any) and release date around 2016 if not 2017. Frozen came out on November 2013 and we didn’t get the teaser trailer until June.
I was initially pretty heartbroken at the news they're making a frozen sequel, since i treasure the first one so much, but the fact that the same producers and crew are the ones directing the sequel gives me hope. (Although I still hope elsa doesn't get a romantic subplot.) also frozen fever was too adorable and perfect to discredit the producers. They know what they're doing with these characters.
Exactly how I feel. I wasn’t really sure at first but after Frozen Fever and how they expanded the story and the characters and there’s still room for the first movie but they keep moving and growing like characters... I really enjoyed it.
I also kinda have a list of the things I’m praying that won’t be part of the movie, but I think we can trust Disney Animation Studios on what they’re doing.
Hi!! My first fan mail was about a potential Frozen sequel... I know your a bit skeptical about it.. But do you believe it can work since the original cast and creators are producing this film. I am a bit worried too this can either be a good or bad sequel. Also I know they didn't announce the release date. But what do you think the release date is? I'm thinking after Moana so around 2017..
I still am a bit skeptical about it and I can’t lie when I say I’m worried about where the story is going to go (specially on some points the fandom would like to see and not all of them can happen or they’ll make it happen).
I trust Disney and that if they want to exploit the franchise more it’s because they won’t ruin it!
Apparently, a movie that was scheduled for 2018 just got shelved so maybe that’s what will make space for Frozen 2.
How about we stop talking about Frozen sequels cause Disney has a history of royally screwing any film they make a sequel of...
How about we stop talking about the sequel because it’s simply not confirmed by the studios or the fact that all not Disney sequels are bad and that they are not even made by Disney but a side studio owned by the company called Disney Toons or that Disney Animated Studios hasn’t done a sequel since 1990 with The Rescuers Down Under?
But seriously not all their sequels are bad— The Cinderella, Little Mermaid and Mulan ones, The Lion King ones, The Tigger and Pigglet movies, The Goofy Movies, The Peter Pan sequel and the Fairies Movies, Krock’s New Groove… Do not generalize. Ever.
I think this would create some holes in the plot by saying that she wasn't born with the powers but cursed because the king specifies that she had had them since birth.
I think the only things that would be the thing to complement this idea is for who is who kidnaps Anna and why are they doing this? Where would they take her and what do the want from Anna or Elsa. I don't where it can go.
