"Babe, what are you thinking about right now?"
He didn’t answer her at first. Rakan was uncharacteristically quiet. Deep in thought, his fingers scratched his cheek and his talons scratched lines into the dirt. There was a lot on his mind as he picked up what clean bandages they had on hand. Walking to Xayah, he delicately picked up her leg and started to wrap the bandages around the wound just above her calf.
It was a small enough wound that she obviously didn’t seem worried. Rakan however, had been watching blood steadily flow from it for nearly an hour and it showed no sign of stopping. Probably hit an artery. Whether she liked it or not, he was going to fret over her until he knew she was better.
“I’m thinking,” His tone was serious and he had not flashed his usual goofy grin, “That you took too much of a risk this time. Especially when I wasn’t there. I’m the risk taker. You always follow the plan.”
The plan was more on the dangerous side, but nothing was supposed to go wrong. A get in, get out situation. Unfortunately they had been ratted on, and the plan became much more improvised than expected. Had he not been there, Rakan feared what may have happened to Xayah after her leg got nicked. Nobody would have been there to protect her.
“Now look what’s happened. You’re hurt and I could have lost you.” He finished with a frown as he tightened the bandage.
