Lapis’ eyes shot open, but she didn’t get up. She stared up at the ceiling for a moment. 

I don’t remember...falling asleep. She remembered, she had been knocked out during a battle. That’s why it felt so...real. Slowly, she got up. Her dream came back at her in flashes, Beni ripping her to shreds and shattering her gem. She hugged herself, taking slow breaths. Then she saw him sitting a few feet away.

“B-Beni.” She ran her fingers through her hair, shaking. “Hi.”

Marco was walking back from school, he missed the bus. Again. And now, 80 degree weather, seemed to have perfect timing. Stopping at the gas station to get some water, he bumped into someone. “Ah, sorry about that...” He muttered as he glanced over at them, still looking at his goal of getting water.
