Entry 0003
My next intruder...guest was Twelve. He skipped in, two apples bouncing in the hood of his jacket. "Zero wants you to join the others for lunch today," The pink-haired boy smiled at me, but I didn't have the heart to return it. "He is aware that we need time to adjust. But 24 hours is about his limit."
I nodded, turning back to the window, but didn't speak and after a few moments of stiffened silence the boy left. A perfectly red apple sat on my bedside table. Sighing, I picked it up and walked into the bathroom to analyze my reflection. I knew I was being unfair to the boy. He was sweet and cute and trying to help me. But my mind was far too gone to play nice. My stomach rumbled and I took a bite from the present Twelve left me. Juice filled my mouth, more than I remembered apples having. "Well, there's another memory. Apples." Teal eyes stared back at me, I blinked and for a moment they were blue before shifting back to the sea color. "I had blue eyes." I muttered to myself. Twenty-four hours and memories were coming slowly. "Who was I?" That answer eluded me.
Slowly, I fixed my violet hair so it looked presentable and straightened my clothes. Might as well look good to meet everyone. The hallway outside my room was expansive and, as if by instinct, I walked one way watching the numbers descend past me. Laughter grew louder as I wandered and I followed them. The dining hall was huge and I suddenly felt very small and awkward. I gripped my right elbow with my left hand and stood in the doorway. Twelve had the others captivated in a story and when everyone laughed I saw her. A small girl with short pink hair and a green stocking cap. A memory woke in the back of my mind, but it couldn't be placed. She was absolutely beautiful and I struggled with what was trying to stay suppressed.
Twelve saw me and lit up. The joy in his eyes forced a smile unto my face. The boy would not give up.
