Future of Fanpro (again lol)
Hi everyone! Sorry for the clickbait title (again….yikes), but I’m coming to y’all with a very serious heart to heart.
It’s been a while since I’ve brought an update this big to y’all late. I like to plan things out, write very clear and organized posts in advance and bring content to you on time. But from here on out it’s going to get a lot harder for me to bring anything to you in the way that I’d like. I originally became a part of Fanpro when I was 14 yrs old. 3 years later, I’m a senior in highschool and I’m busily preparing for college. Mod Arkie is currently a freshman in college, and between all the Saturdays I have to spend working and going on college visits and her busy schedule, it is very hard to find the time to sit down and put something together. Even right now, I’m currently juggling 2 other projects, while putting together today’s updates. No other mods are active besides Arkie and I, and it’s very hard for either of us to bring updates to you on our own (the reason Arkie became a mod was originally because, much like now, I was left alone to run this project by myself). Not only am I not able to do it on my own, quite frankly I just won’t. The last time we put out a call for temp mods, we barley even had 2 people apply.
If you can’t tell by my tone, the two of us are a little overwhelmed. We also are very much aware that Fanpro seems to be in its last stages of life, activity and community wise. We’ve brainstormed a handful of ideas and even tried to execute them this summer, but even we are too busy to participate in some of the things we put out (like spotlight week).
You might be asking, “Boony, why don’t we all just go back to designs? That’ll save Fanpro”. The reason I am hesitant to just continue to release more designs is because more designs won’t save Fanpro. With today’s batch we are currently at 2,100 designs, but 1000 less followers than we had last year, and even less activity. Fanpro is currently over-saturated with designs, and we all (including us) don’t know what to do with it all.
At this point, I can hear you yelling “TLDR”! So TDLR: we’re overwhelmed, and running out of ideas. We’d like to bring things back to the community, because community is what keeps Fanpro running.
We cannot continue to bring you anything that you truly aren’t interested in, or can’t participate in. We’ve created a poll centering around what our next moves are for the coming months. If you can take that we’d REALLY REALLY appreciate it. We are also very much open to discussion and suggestions, so feel free to respond to this post, post your opinons to the tag, or send us an ask. I’ve only really wanted to work on things I know people will care about, and at this point that’s really all I can afford to do right now with my current circumstances.
