Do you think learning crocheting or knitting would be good before starting to pick up chainmail?

Great question anon!

They're more similar than you think, so if you enjoy one then you'd probably enjoy the other and there are some transferable skills. That said, you absolutely do not need to do crochet or knitting first. I'd argue that chainmail is way less complicated - it's mostly repetition of the same thing over and over again.

I have never crocheted and while I've done some knitting, it's been years. I had no trouble picking up chainmail, in fact, I found it easier than knitting to understand. (same with scalemail fyi, which i found the easiest of all)

Ah thank you! I did the 14 as Melody SO fast, made an attempt to use Zina, my new Tiefling Rogue from a pathfinder game my friends and I just started but I'm not as used to drawing her yet so I'm not AS pleased with the result

Honestly, it's very tempting. If I still had the kind of time/career I had when I did 100 Carmilla stories, we could very well be getting 100 bee stories. I've got waaaay less time these days.

But I'm still pretty feral about them and there's a greater than zero chance I add a few more Bumbleby stories to my list (I think I've done 3 in the past?).

I just got into the Carmilla fandom and read all of your stories! Thank you! Your fics were the very first I read for Hollstein and now I neeeeeeed more! Are there any absolute must read Hollstein fics that you can recommend?

What a great question that makes me think about old things. Okay, so fun thing about me is that I use the bookmarks feature in ao3 as a way to keep track of my favourite fics so that I can read them again. So you can always go to my account, look at my bookmarks, and filter for Carmilla! I've got 65 Carmilla fics bookmarked.

They're still there. I just locked them down so you need an account to view them. People keep stealing my work. While this won't stop everyone, it'll at least stop the posting bots. And I don't want to have to take them down entirely. So this was the compromise.

I'm sure I'll open them up again for anon readers but it sucks every single time someone plagiarises my work and I got tired of seeing it. So I needed a little break where I didn't need to think about it as much.
