Hey so like, what if I posted about my #cyberpunk dystopian not-a-robot artificial pop-star, PΔNÐΘRΔ, from an old LARP game I used to play in? Just my silly goofy idol in a supernatural dystopian world who nothing bad ever happens to not never...Look how cute she is!

People seemed to like that so have some old art: Some of #PΔNÐΘRΔ 's early designs in-universe. Originally, she wasn't a person at all in any sense of the word; just a mascot for an app and eventually smart device called PITHOS Radio, developed by Hades Corporation (the Entertainment conglomerate Corp) I've compared her at that stage to the Duolingo Owl, Ronald McDonald, the Trix rabbit etc (I traced a bunch of vocaloid poses to get the right vibe and energy and focus on designing the outfits)

She became part of the smart device, like siri or alexa, a responsive personality you could put to tasks, ask questions, interface with the device itself. By the time they came out with the full second iteration, they added a synthetic singing voice (like a vocaloid) so you could ask her to sing covers of popular songs

PΔNÐΘRΔ got SUPER popular leading to Hades investing in upgrading her along with the radio technology She became part of the smart device, like siri or alexa, a responsive personality you could put to tasks, ask questions, interface with the device itself. With Pithos 2.0, they added a synthetic singing voice (like a vocaloid) and a more complex set of algorithms including machine learning so you could ask her to sing covers of popular songs. Each update improved and added complexity to her programming until she, not the Pithos radio itself, was one of the most complex pieces of tech in the industry. PΔNÐΘRΔ got so popular and developed such a strong fan following, treating her like a pop star in her own right, that Hades started to develop original music for her to sing on request (Exclusively streaming on Pithos Radio smart devices!) Investing more and more money and resources into PΔNÐΘRΔ became a no-brainer to the company; Singles became an album, became music videos, became digital dance tutorials, became Hologram Concerts! When the Pithos 3 was announced, Hades also teased the PΔNÐΘRΔ concert event of a lifetime, THE concert of the year and an historic announcement to be made. (it quickly became "leaked" fandom understanding this would include a model update for the beloved "pop star")

There's a mix of literal and figurative here, idk if people want the whole analysis but I'll give you an brief one anyway; (Edit: I've never been brief in my life) campfire is probably the most obvious, aside from being someone who spends a lot of time out in nature and providing for herself via campfire, Marra also takes an amount of comfort in them, and with fire in a general sense, she spends time out in the field around a campfire and back at the lighthouse likes to tend to the hearthfire in the dining hall. There's also a strong sense of something that could be dangerous or unpredictable providing safety, comfort, warmth. Jasmine is sometimes used by the Dalish (canonically for mystery reasons and the idea that they smoke it is an offhand attempt at an insult by Maric in a novel, but i do like the idea of them adding fragrant herbs to fires for a number of reasons) and since we know that hookahs exist at least in tevinter, it's not crazy to assume sometimes rivain as well, i happen to like jasmine shisha and giving that to Marra makes sense, and after spending time in Minrathous, Marra started using a jasmine hair oil she found there. Symbolically jasmine is associate with love, beauty, and sensuality, and I don't assume it would be overly common of a flower in antiva (i could be wrong about that but we're going with it) Clove is a common ingredient added to food and drink in Rivain, especially in tea along with cinnamon and ginger. When Lucanis started noticing how often she added it to things, he started making sure the Lighthouse always had a decent supply. He has never mentioned it. She hasn't thought about it enough to ask.

WIP doodles to get the demons out of my brain; Modern Coffee Shop AU Rookanis concept doodles; the Crows run a coffee shop as a front and covert way to pass reports and info but they also technically need to function as a business, which means staff, especially staff who can actually make coffee, Enter Marra, having just moved to the city with her bff Bellara (who moved here for a big job and research opportunity yadda yadda yadda) and definitely needs a job to help contribute to rent and have smth to do. playing around with Spite as a separate person but Luc's "guy in the chair" talking into an ear bud all the time, possibly prison buddy? details still being ironed out

lil update on this, still working things out. I realized I'm sticking very close to canon for style and colour scheme and stuff for now but I think I need that to start as a baseline and I can start giving it more personality and flair as I go

Anyone else lowkey annoyed that we can't structure our blogs the way we want anymore? I sued to have a specific theme here showing as a gallery view, since it's where I post art and I want people to be able to see as much of my art at once as possible...but now all tumblr pages are forced into a single line scroll? Which I think is much harder on artists, the older the art the less eyes you get on it cause people aren't going to scroll that long :/

(apologies for the sketchy response but that's what my brain wants to do rn I'll try to do more with these nerds eventually. 🌸Does your Rook have any siblings or close friends they see as such? Where are they during the events of Veilguard? So, growing up in Rivain, Marra's best friends were Bet (they/he) and Beryl (she/her) Bet got his nickname for his fondness for low stakes schemes and cons, simple things like shell games and the like. Beryl's mother was a Seer and she inherited her magic but didn't spend much time on learning to communicate with spirits as deftly, she managed to live up to her given name by constantly collecting gems and jewels and precious metals at any given opportunity. They're relatively safe these days, Beryl joined the Lords of Fortune at the FIRST opportunity. She was out on assignments for most of the events of Veilguard but often left notes and souvenirs for Marra when she missed her. Bet runs a semi-legitimate shop in Dairsmuid and hasn't seen Marra in a while but would buy her several drinks and ply her for stories of everything that's happened since she left if given half a chance. When Marra left to join the Dalish Clans, she made fast friends with Kellan, a rather relaxed seeming mage of no small talent, but a third mage in the clan, which already had a Keeper and First, but remained with his birth clan as they knew of no other clan in present need, so he waited for a need to arise, but as clans settled in Arlathan, such delineations became less needed. He joined the Veil jumpers with Marra out of mostly a desire to see more of their strange new home, and because Marra more or less dragged him along. They met Irevas there, a crafter and scholar who eventually became one of the group that oversaw, studied, and guarded the vaulted and archived artifacts. No mage, but a quick study and a sharp mind and a gift for deciphering how things were constructed, built and crafted. Kellan and Irevas fell in love over the years tho the trio were so inseparable it took most ages to sort out who was seeing who. Kellan was with Marra on the mission that landed her in so much hot water with Strife and lead her to joining up with Varric. He was in direct danger as he tried to soothe a wild and malfunctioning artifact and Marra shielded him bodily, throwing him out of the way when it went off. He was relegated to fetch quests and spare duties throughout various Jumper camps as punishment for trying to stand up for Marra after the incident, and she didn't get to se much of him throughout the events of Veilguard, though she made a point to find both of her friends once or twice when time allowed. enjoy
