OK so the Rose/Roxy HSO Team Round 1 Entry was one of the best Homestuck fics I've ever read. Rose/Roxy is a tragic ship, one that deals with alcohol abuse, time lapse, nostalgia and unspoken words, and hnnn aren't those two girls already really excellent characters with a lot of depth

It's possible to write about Rose and Roxy as if they've never heard of each other, if Rose never had Mom and Roxy never had Alpha Rose, but the mother daughter relationship connotations really just make the ship between Beta Rose and Alpha Roxy all the more alluring. Rose and Roxy are opposites; Rose is the light that sees through everything and Roxy is the void that firmly blocks in herself. It's difficult by design for them to communicate clearly and sincerely but they really, really want to do that, and it's just something I really love to see.

Oh no when I try to talk about Rose/Roxy my feelings about it always seem to get tangled up with my feelings for Rose/Mom and Roxy/Alpha!Rose until I can't figure out what's what anymore. BUT WHEN ALL'S SAID AND DONE ROSE/ROXY IS A GOOD SHIP AND I WANT THEM TO KISS.

Rose/Jade in fanart has always been cute, but I admit that "The Frost Witch and the Lady of Thorns" (HSO Round 2) was the first thing about them that blew me away. I haven't done a lot of personality research on either Rose or Jade (Rose's too different from me and Jade is very hard for me to tackle) but this is definitely a precious, precious ship when the two girls are trying their hardest to help each other. Rose vulnerable/Jade helping could be because (as in the fic above) Rose cannot easily shake herself from the broodfester tongues and Jade has always been good at telling herself to move forward, even if she had bottled up a lot of pain in order to do so; Rose helping/Jade vulnerable could be... oh my god I'd love to see Rose interact with Jadesprite. I need it like burning.

If you are still doing the shipping analysis... may I shamelessly ask about Summoner/Mindfang? (Shamelessly only because this ship deserves much, much more attention than it has. <3)

AH I'm so sorry I didn't get to this one until now! I started work on it and I got distracted, sorry!

I really like Summoner/Mindfang if just because there's so much ambiguity attached to the relationship. The Summoner's definitely more capable than Tavros, but although it means his relationship with Mindfang was definitely more legendary than Vris/Tav, it doesn't necessarily mean his relationship with her was definitely a smooth ride. I like to think that those two had a tumultuous relationship that changed the course of Alternian history; he was hot blooded and youthfully energetic enough for that, and she was stubborn and bold enough for that. They could have loved each other until their final breathes, or they could have betrayed each other with power and blood; did he kill her because he didn't want to watch her suffer? Did he kill her because she had become disgusted with his cause? The fact that we don't know (along with this ship's parallels, differences and connections with Tavros/Vriska) is what makes this ship very, very fascinating.
