My url "13eyond13" is a reference to the name "Beyond Birthday," who is my third favourite character in the Death Note series.

ABOUT THE CONTENT I POST

-This blog started as a Death Note analysis/ask blog, and it remained that from 2017-2023

-Around 2024 I decided to branch out more with my blogging and post my thoughts about everything I am currently reading and watching instead. I will still post Death Note content, and definitely don't mind still getting asks about Death Note! But please be aware that I'm now going to be posting about other stuff as well. Expect to find Death Note + Berserk + the Beatles + whatever media I'm currently into + a bunch of stupid memes here, basically

-I do try to tag my posts for other fandoms and their spoilers (eg. #berserk #berserk spoilers), but due to the origins of this blog my Death Note spoilers are untagged

-I occasionally might post 18+ content. I always tag these posts #nsfw #nsfwork (the new tag I use because the other one might censor your entire blog if you use it occasionally now), so that tag can be blocked, but my criteria for this might be different than your own. If you're not comfortable with this then please do not follow my blog

ABOUT MY DEATH NOTE POSTS

-I've been in the Death Note fandom off and on since 2007, and I've been blogging about it here since 2017

-The manga is by far my favourite version of the story and the one I default to when discussing it! I love to analyze the story as a whole as well as learn how to portray the cast of characters accurately. I am also a fan of the anime and the Another Note novel, but I'm not very familiar with the drama or the movies or the musical

-I appreciate the complex and morally grey aspects of the characters, so I often include them in my discussions and my jokes, but I'm never attempting to seriously condone any harmful actions or views. I approach this series as an ironic/dark-humoured work of fiction in which everyone goes to Mu in the end, and which was mostly just intended to be entertaining and to raise questions (x)

-My favourite characters in the series are L and Light, and my favourite ship is Lawlight. I tend to go hard on both characters and point out their flaws and negative traits a lot, but that doesn't mean I don't love them dearly. I also talk about their relationship in a shippy sense a lot as well, so if you're really not into that particular reading of things you might not want to follow me here!

Dear Tom

I’m so scared. I’m scared, i’m nervous, i’m worried that this was a bad idea. It’s different when you go out of town for awhile and knowing you’ve got people and family and a place to go back to. But here we don’t know anyone. It’s starting off new and it’s terrifying. I think you understand that…that’s why you left everything that you knew and all that you built up to start over with me…didn’t you? I’m glad that I get to be with you all the time again. I’m glad that, even after our worse argument ever, I know i’ve always got my brother. I have faith that  I can do this because I have you, Tom. Here’s to  writing our newer chapter together and starting all over.

Dear Lee

This is it, man. This is everything we’ve worked since sophomore year to get to. It doesn’t even feel real does it?

I know that i’ll be far now…but it’s better that you stay here. I want you to have fun and ride out senior year. Pull all those stupid pranks with Kyle and make sure he stays out of trouble, take Leah to prom. We stayed up and talked all that night and I could hear the fondness in your voice when you spoke about her. You’re looking forward to a lot of things and I want you to have it all. You’ve been there with me since the very beginning, you saw how I had to start the band over, how I let you go but you came right back. You didn’t give up on me. That day since i’ve vowed to never give up on you. No one knows me better than you do. That’s why making this decision was something that I had to do. I’ll be okay, promise. Just make sure everyone else here at home is. There’s a good circle of people out there that’ll always take care of you. You know who i’m talking about at the moment, but maybe there’s more out there that I didn’t get to know yet. Look out for one another. Send me pictures. Have fun. I’ll see you at the finish line.

Dear Leah ♥

To: Leah

I can only imagine how weird it was for you for a complete stranger to come up to you, offer you a ride home, and then stop by McDonald’s for some ice cream sundaes. That was a rough night for me and I thought I was just doing something nice for a person, but I would’ve never guess that I just picked up and took my newest best friend out for ice cream. Well techincally, you’re family. There’s Chip and Dale…and Tom adopted you right on the spot. Being around you though I imagine what it feels like to have a baby sister, so I guess its okay that he’s adopted you. ;) (that’s a joke, alright?)I’ve learned the true meaning of determination and passion from being your friend. I’ve watched you worked your hardest on routines you were passionate on executing effortlessly and you did it everytime. When you fell, you picked yourself right back up and learned from the mistake you made. You’ve inspired me to do that. You’ve inspired me to always dream big and never give up doing what you love. We have two entirely different passions, but when we fused them into one, to this day I still sit in awe at how well we worked together. I can’t wait to see how far you carry yourself as you keep reaching for the stars. I hope I get to be there catch every second of it.

So you finally did it. I can’t believe it. I’m proud of you.

You’ve come a long way, Rich. From claiming your favorite color because of the pair of under bottoms your crush wore--turquoise was always an ugly fucking color, really--to carrying your band from the small stage to Austin, Texas at SXSW. I want you to know that it took a lot to get you where you are now. There were people, there were tears, there were laughs, there were upsets and disappointments, there were disagreements, there are memories. You didn’t wake up where you are now. You worked to get there. You worked your ass off and you live every moment of what you receive because of it Richard. I don’t care if you have every Grammy in your hands, I don’t care if you’ve got Jay-Z or Kanye West or Rihanna on speed dial--if you ever forget those people, if you ever forget where you came from you may as well slap your own self in the face. 

I hope you’re everything I always dreamed of. I hope you’re doing everything everything I said I would do while sitting in through a second freshman year. Don’t disappoint me. Don’t disappoint Dad. Don’t disappoint the people who are out there rooting for us. 

You might not be Jay-Z or Kanye but I bet one day someone will be saying that they aren’t Spike.

Dear Kyle

I know you’re upset. I know you’re trying to play off like you aren’t phased by any of us leaving but Kyle I know you. I promise you the moment they put that diploma in your hand and you walk off that stage next year, you’ll be right back with us. No one gets behind and if they do it’s only for a little while. School is so important. Afterward we can talk about that neon green touring bus and drawing monster teeth on it. Though I still think no one would see it coming if we made it sparkling silver like Kesha threw up on it.

Stay focused and keep your head in those books. I can’t think of anyone with as much heart and life to ever replace you with.
