okay!! so, speaking as a trans man, here's why the word "genderbend" and the kind of fanart that's usually going with it is hurtful and transphobic: the word genderbend is commonly used for and linked to one type of fanart: assuming a character is a dfab/dmab cisgender, and drawing them as cisgender dmab/dfab. the concept of genderbending  reinforces the gender binary since it says that a dfab person looks a certain way, and a dmab person should look another. it erases the existence of non-binary people: It assumes that a person is either Male of Female, and that there is nothing else beyond those two options, along with the way they should look more or less. basically what happens is: let's give this tall ripped guy a very small body, no body hair and big boobs. that's so wrong in so many ways. because, most importantly, you are completely erasing the existence of transgender people: if you draw an originally male character with big boobs and a vagina, what you're saying is this male character couldn't ALREADY have a vagina and a small/bound chest/had chest surgery/etc at the start. if you draw an originally female character with a flat cisdude chest and a penis, you're also assuming they didn't originally have a penis and a filled bra/had chest surgery/etc. (if you are drawing genderbent porn, you are also assuming this character couldn't be intersex either.) you want to draw this male character as a female character? alright! make them trans with feminine presentation! draw her with longer hair, maybe makeup, maybe feminine clothes... but don't change their height drastically! consider not removing their body hair! consider not removing their muscle mass! document yourself on what hormone therapy can do. you want to draw a female character as a male character? bind his chest, don't turn him into a giant, document yourself on the extents of hormone therapy and surgery. but what is also important to consider is: PRESENTATION HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH GENDER. so the word genderbend in itself is harmful. I'm a man. I'm super small, I don't have a lot of facial hair, I still have boobs. I'm not less of a man because of that. Just like a woman can have a natural beard, not shave, wear whatever the fuck she wants and still be a woman. I have so much more to say on this because it's a pretty complicated subject, and i'm sure people will have more to say about this, but this will do for now. i should be sleeping right now lmao but you're my friend and it's important you know about this stuff TL;DR genderbending is a cissexist binary concept. presentation play is better. if you REALLY want to draw a feminine cis woman as a masculine cis man... contemplate why the fuck you want to do that
