While the senario of one character having a secret crush on another and trying to hide it/tell them is cute. Forcing it on them isn't. And I know too well that men can be abused just like women.

even the creepy kind wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't played up as being romantic.

Like a thing that comes up a lot with media in general is "is it ok to have characters do <bad thing>?" the answer is YES but you have to frame it as being bad.

Like there is a difference between your main hero being a skeevy asshole and your main villain being one.  Being creepy shouldn't be cute it should be the character is treated like a creep.
